Well, if I'm not considered a Christian by the "catholics" definition, then I hope they serve Vodka Martini's in hell and play Richard Cheese.
So I guess the Israelites are no longer God's "Chosen people" since the "pope" is so high and mighty.
Guess Martin Luther did us all a favor with his Thesis...maybe someone should go nail another set to the door of the Vatican.
I'm a charismatic conservative Christian, why should I give a rip what the Pope says?
Most people say the Anti-christ will be a Catholic Pope, so I guess they can smoke that one.

He probably did this because he doesn't want Catholics to leave the church and go to Protestant churches. In the article, he said that other churches aren't real churches and do not offer salvation. He wants to be the only one that offers salvation, so the church can have more members and more money. I don't think any of these people know what's in the afterlife. Otherwise, why would they ever need to change doctrine? I'll find better ways to spend my money and time than trying to get premium real estate in heaven.

I'm not Protestant so I really don't care what the Pope thinks
I am Apostolic and we have been around before the Catholic church, we Started in the book of Acts and still follow the same doctrine as the Apostles and we have not changed any of it, unlike some

I believe this is a symptom of the fall of Christianity, myself.
Moderate Christianity ruled for a while. But I think what has happened is the moderates have basically become agnostics and/or deists, and the churches are realizing they made a mistake in loosening up.
That is why you see the resurgence of fundamentalism, and now the pope saying things like this. Christianity is going back to its ridiculous roots. And in doing so, they are hastening their own demise.

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html
Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.
While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:
Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.
Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.
All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.
With love in Christ.

Pope's off his meds, yo.
Seriously, as much as I didn't agree with the previous pope's politics (like, I thought he should have stayed totally out of politics and concentrated on riding herd on the catholics), JPII was an all around better person than this schmuck.

Well, my first thought was "My, aren't we pretentious?", but then I got to thinking about it, and don't we all think this about whatever religion/no religion we believe in?
I don't think that the Catholic church is the only church that can bring salvation, but hey, everyone has to have a hobby! At least they are showing the world what they believe.
How about just leaving the Christians alone? I know you don't believe what they believe, but we all have to believe something.

Same load of dung from Vatican city that has been flowing since Constantine established them as the official, state sponsored church. The bishop of Rome is in no position to judge someones salvation. God decides whom He will save, and whom He won't. Sorry, I will stand on the Scriptures, not man's traditions and empty ceremonies, I will stand with Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Knox and Edwards, not with political appointments in Rome. Those who sit on their thrones in Rome do well to heed Christ's words:
Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!"

Amen brotha...preachin to the choir!!
Watch was the Catholic church positions itself to be the new "One World Religion".
People should run as far and as fast as they can from organized religion. Question your dogmas. Look around the world. Ask yourself if it's really working.

Just read that...I guess that means the Catholics are now God's chosen people? He flatly stated that no other Christians are of a "true" church.
