Rabbits will always return within a maximum of 50 yds from where they were first jumped or routed *... When they are chasing Deer they usually will run pretty much in a N, S, E, or westerly direction in a more or less straight line and you may also notice a change in how they give chase by the barking that they do*...Also they may go out of your hearing range*...

Rabbits will circle when being chased by dogs. Just stand where the rabbit took off from and it will run in a circle and come back near where it started. Be quiet and try to listen for the rabbit as it approaches. As for the deer question, a deer will usually just run away from the dog in a straight line. If you train the dog when he's young, you can train them to leave the deer alone. Once they've started to chase deer it's hard to breal them of the habit.

easy...watch infront of the rabbit...it makes very quick rash decisions...not the best ones...watch what rabbits do a few times and you will figure it out easier then me trying to explain it
