Is a joint credit card account one where each account holder has a different card and the charges on each are applied to the same statement/balance? Would the numbers on the cards be different/same?

Actually it depends on the company as to if the cards will be the same or different. A lot of companies will itemize charges by card. In this case the card numbers are different but they are all covered under the same account.

This is especially true for accounts such as Gas Credit Cards or Business credit cards.

I'd heed the warning they posted on the site: Warnings: Be careful when entering into a joint credit card; any charges or penalties from one person will affect both people Now, if you're the person whose credit isn't good, it's likely it may HELP you however the reverse also is the case. I certainly would not go into a joint account at all with a friend, etc. These are usually reserved for people who are otherwise committed to each other (spouse, domestic partner, etc). Hence, the warning. If you're married, your credit already is tied in with the spouse, like it or not. If you're not married, why would a person with good credit begin a joint account with a person with bad credit because it would drag the good credit score down.

Yes, a joint credit card is one shared by multiple people. The cards both have the same numbers on them because that is the account number. Every charge on each card goes on one single bill.

There is a slight difference between two types:

A joint account has two names as the owners of the account.

An authorized user on someone Else's account, gets a card and any privileges that come with it, but they are not the owner of the account and are not held responsible for the account.

I hope this helps

You are correct. The names on the cards are different, but the account number is the same.
