National Auto sells rebuilt alternators re-manufactured by AC-Delco, They may cost $20. more than a cheapo but every single thing is new the only part that's re-used is the frame (outer aluminum) case. Price a new one at your Toyota dealer $550. - $600.00 Now run to National auto and pick up one of their AC-Delco Units under $175.00. They also have a lifetime warranty, something Toyota does not have.

When an alternator is rebuilt they exchange the rebuilt unit for yours. They will charge you a deposit to make sure you turn in your old one.

You get what you pay for. I've seen some pretty sorry rebuilt units. I'd get a remanufactured one. The difference is with a remanufactured unit you get new diodes and bearings. With a rebuilt unit all they do is make it work.

The term rebuilt only means they took it apart and put it back together again. A rebuilt unit's warranty is usually only 90 days. Some outlets offer a lifetime warranty on their remanufactured units.
