Lots of people have thoughts about this, but isn't it arrogant to think that your version is better than everyone else's? Won't we all find out eventually?

I say that the afterlife, if it exists, is a concern for the dead, not the living.

Agree or no?

I will agree that no one really [KNOWS], yes. And yes, it is [arrogant] to think that one way of thinking is better than another. As to the [afterlife] being a [concern for the dead, not the living], I feel that far too many folk fear death, which restricts the way they live life.

You will have a lot of people start quoting the Biiiiiiiibull, and give you all sorts of statements out of it indicating that everlasting life is yours if you just believe in Jeeeeeessssuuuuuuuuus.

But anyone who has read it, and other holy books as well concludes that firstly, it is simply the folk lore of one starving bunch of stone age shepherds, full of fairy tales that we can --- any of us can--- trace to other groups living in the area at the same time...(actually, the study of the evolution of the bible really is quite interesting....) Egyptian stuff is in there, adam and eve story is Babylonian, Hittite things there as well. etc., And secondly, if you really wanted to worship the god of the old testament, he/it is one pissed off, angry vengeful dude, unworthy of anything.

It is just far more logical to realize that when the blood stops circulating, the bacteria that digested your food, now begins to digest you. None of us survive our own death... dust again to dust, and the molecules you were using you used from some other living thing, and they will pass on to some other living thing later... Lots of the water in you passed thru the kidneys of a whale, and some of your molecules were used by Beethoven... Nope, there is no conscious life beyond this one...So, have a great time, be a wonderful person, help others, volunteer your time, be a great husband and father, and know at age 80 you are embarrassed by no action you could ever regret.

Yes and no. I agree that no one truly knows for sure what awaits us after the EMS gives up and the white sheet is pulled over our lifeless bodies. However, even though I will no doubt eventually find out, I can't help but speculate about it. I'm attracted to paranormal things.

man
this is the only thing I am pretty sure about

however
there is a slim chance that the spirit I speak with can be explained by quantum and that i am only picking up on memories that are out there in the universe....
there are a few reasons that i dont believe this , such as spirit giving present day info that would not be in their memory folder ( so to speak )
but yes still it is possible

Actually there is fairly reliable knowledge available of what goes on after death. It is simply not very widely known about. I suggest you read 'Through the Gates of Death" by Dion Fortune, for a glimpse of this knowledge.

There is no proof of anything after death except some sort of disposal of the body. True, we don't "know" that there isn't an afterlife, but it's fairly obvious that reincarnation and ghosts are extremely unlikely as is any sort of deity-run paradise.

No,

it is a proven fact that once you die your body decomposes (unless you are creamated of course in which case you are ground up and used to make splenda).

There is no scientific proof of a soul, therefore you cannot say it exists until you have some kind of evidence of its existance.

All evidence and testing shows that once we die, we become worm food- or splenda, take your pick.

OK, I'll play along. With so much information warning us that there is an afterlife let's say it's a fifty-fifty chance. In the words of the great Dirty Harry, "DO YOU FEEL LUCKY...?"

No, we won't all find out eventually. When you're dead you're not capable of finding things out. And we know this because finding things out requires the use of a functioning brain, and if your brain were functioning then you wouldn't be dead.

I agree with this:
"I say that the afterlife, if it exists, is a concern for the dead, not the living."

The rest, not so much.
