someone PLEASE tell me how to remove the stock radio from my car... i have heard u have to take the whole dashboard out but that is not true. so someone who knows what they r talkin bout let me know...

That IS true, and I've installed decks in quite a few 00-04 Impalas, so I do know what I'm talking about. The entire dash panel that surrounds the radio, climate controls, and instrument cluster needs to be removed before the factory radio will come out.

Going from memory, you have to start by removing the screws at the bottom of the plate under the steering column. After the screws are removed, pull the whole plate off. Also, pull off the covers on each end of the dash, revealed when you open the doors. You may find screws underneath the covers that hold the ends of the main dash panel. There may also be screws above the instrument cluster. You'll need to first pry off the small plastic ring around the key switch, then carefully pry off the entire dash panel.

Under the panel, the radio is held with three screws.
