When I look down at a new born baby, I don't think, "What a wretched little sinner. Look how evil he is. He deserves eternal punishment in hell..."

No one is perfect, but is that so wrong? Why can't we just try to be pretty good?

It's one of the biggest things that disgusts me about organized religion.

The ones that are actively looking for more followers will start their proselytizing by telling you that, basically, you're a piece of scum that can't get anything right without their magic sky spirit possessing you and and leading you by the nose.

because people are (by nature) not nice and kind...Rules have to be put in place to keep society from eating itself alive. People should be reminded that they are sinners and that they can always better themselves. If we keep making excuses for one another then the whole moral system will collapse...I myself am not even a religious person but I do respect and am thankful to religion for the moral code that it has instilled in people (myself included, I could take or leave the Dogma they attach to it, but the moral imperative they taught is always with me).

religions tend to make humanity feel small and worthless so they can better recruit you to show you they way of salvation..which is nothing more than an addiction to feeling good....they have to make us feel small so they can offer us something to make us feel large[generally the teachings of that particular faith]

if these religions didn't have "sinners" to redeem, there would be no reason for their existence.

That is what we have been taught as a society.

We were wondering that about you.

How about you start it off and show us how serious you really are about being good?
