This is mostly for the Christians, and I am a Christian, who strongly oppose homosexuality. I have read it many times on here that homosexuality is a sin as listed in Leviticus and Romans. Do we also forget that divorce is a sin. I am divorced and I am remarried now and my former spouse is still alive, am I going to hell as well? Do you think it is simply easier to go about screaming abominations to those who are gay because you aren't gay? Do you also fight for laws to ban divorce? And, I am not saying homosexuality is right or wrong. . .there are many things listed in the Bible as sin but it seems there are a few that are easier to scream about because we do not deal with it in our own personal lives. And, do you really think that Jesus would stand in a picket line? How would Jesus respond to homosexuals or divorced people such as myself?

Dusty, yes I am quite sure that I am a Christian. But, I am asking why so many people focus on homosexuality when there are many sins spoken of in the Bible. I simply think it is easier to throw stones when the sin is not something you personally deal with. . .just my opinion.

Interesting question seeing as how my brother and I just were talking about this a few days ago. He was visiting from South Dakota (I live in Wisconsin) and wanted to do some fishing while he was up. I sell real estate and have a gay couple I sold a lake home to. My wife and I have become friends with them and they are wonderful, loving people. One of them is a lay minister in her Christianity based church. They are great to each other and almost everyone in general. After my brother and I went fishing with them he said "I don't know why people get so worked up about gay people. How can that be wrong?" We are both Christians and our father is a 3rd generation Lutheran pastor. I don't know how God will judge them but I can't see where there lifestyle hurts anyone. I will treat people as I am treated and leave the decision of who is allowed in heaven to a power much greater than any of us can comprehend. God did not say to us that we should shun ANYONE or judge them, lest we be judged ourselves. We have all sinned and how can you qualify which sins will send you to eternal damnation and which ones will be forgiven by the one who died for us? Leave the tough decisions to God and live your life the best you can without getting too wrapped up in making moral judgments on others.

I am Christian also. I strongly oppose homosexuality because I believe a marriage between a man and a woman is sanctified. I do not believe that divorce is a sin. Spouses sometimes change after marriage. I think that you should pray before you get married to make sure the person is right for you. If you find yourself in a bad marriage, pray again for guidance. You can't always tell if your marriage is a bad one until after you are married.
If you live a good life, you won't go to hell. My aunt was married 4 times and divorced 3 times. Her first marriage ended because her husband became homosexual. I don't fight for laws that ban divorce, I just think people should divorce only if they absolutely have to, not if they only don;t love eachother anymore. There are ways around that.
I don't scream abominations to those who are gay. Just becuase I oppose it doesn't mean I go around screaming "You are all wrong, I'm right!" because that is not what Jesus said to do.
I think Jesus loves you just as he loves anyone else, even if you are divorced! I don't think Jesus would stand in a picket line, I think he would pray for those with hard feelings in their hearts.

Would you still oppose homosexuality if you or a close relative were gay?
Jesus urged us to forgive the sins of our fellow men. While I personally dont think that homosexuality is a sin (I dont remember it ever being specifically mentioned in the bible, but I may be wrong). Those who scream abomination and intollerance are simply not following his teachings

Becoming divorced is forgivable if sought. Living a perverted homosexual lifestyle is forgivable as well IF the person stops doing it. The Lord makes it unmistakably clear that He forbids homosexuality. Sure I believe that the voices of protest against Homosexuality is loud and it should be because of the evidence in Scripture of what happens to a nation that upholds this unrighteous standard. Jesus died on the cross for ALL sins, but because of His holiness He will not accept active homosexuals into the Kingdom of God. There is not one verse of Scripture that says people are born gay. It does say however quite the opposite. You will not go to hell because you got divorced. You go to hell because you refuse Jesus and consistently live contrary to His Word.

Truthfully, keep in mind that the bible is a man made project. I am not saying that there are truths in there however, just as we perceive certain things there are perceived statements in the bible.
Homosexuality is only a "sin" because man has deemed it a sin. I am sure that is one of the first things that Jesus communicated to the people, "Hey, no messing around with other men!" It is how it is perceived. There again goes with free will. Choice. Which by the way is the most powerful force in the universe. If you are "strongly opposed" to homosexuality you have been conditioned to that. You have a choice. Myself, hey whatever. It is THEIR CHOICE. I know many wonderful souls who are not "straight" who cares!
There is so many people who have been conditioned to think things are good, bad whatever. We have not been taught to just let be. No, i don't think you are going to hell because you are divorced. It was a choice that you made. Your allowing guilt to dictate. Move on. You are fine...
Good luck!

The Bible plainly calls homosexuality an "abomination" so I'm rather certain God isn't very pleased with the practice. As for divorce, the Bible says that the only excusable reasons for divorce are adultery and abuse.

I think gays are born homosexual. I know the Bible says homosexuality is evil. God will judge gay people not me, so what I think does not really matter. I personally feel there are gays that will be in heaven. (I have no sources to back this up).
I really dislike what some gay people do. Their parades in San Francisco are disgusting. Sex on the streets in New Orleans disgust me. Wanting special treatment by the government is wrong.
I have only known a few gay men in my life time. Everyone of them have been cruel people. For this reason I am against gay men adopting children.
If my son were gay I would love and support him anyway I could.
Have I flipflopped enough here?

True, Some homosexuals may not choose to be gay. But there are those that because of the day and time we live in choose to experiment and I think that is wrong. It's a fad for some people. I think it's odd to see people gay one day and then the next they have decided to be straight again.True homosexuals that are"born that way" seem to have more female or male chromosomes. But because you have the urge does not mean you have to act, that's where ther sin comes in to play.

You need look no further than the attitude of Christians to homosexuals to prove three things:
1. their god does not exist (they cling to the insane notion that homosexulaity is a choice because otherwise they must accept that god made people gay in order to damn and hate them)
2. their religion is based on hate (love the sinner hate the sin is just a way of saying i hate you but i am not going to admit it)
3. their morals are barren - they select from their own works which moral values to follow, and do so in the most bigoted way
As you say, their are countless admonitions in the bible that are ignored. In fact, the bible contains more than 300 times MORE admonitions against straight sex than against gay sex - presumably this means straight people need far more supervision.

One of the women that YAHSHUA MESSIAH encountered had 8 prior husbands & the one she was with at the time she meet YAHSHUA wasn't even her husband to begin with. You are correct though concerning divorce. Its as much a sin as homosexuality. Pastor teached us that marraige is eternal. Divorce is rarely heard of in the HOUSE OF YAHWEH. christianity make sport of it. If the preachers had any back bone to themselves at all they'd be preaching against divorce, however, they just keep pushing thier christian psycology rather than the Laws of YAHWEH. They say, oh, it's ok, not matter what, god loves the sinner. Like the continued sinner is going to have salvation?! This teaching about jeasus has done it all for us, just believe is a bunch of crap!!! We certainly must live by the Laws that YAHWEH has given us to live by or we simply wont have salvation! YAHSHUA is the means by which we recieve salvation from YAHWEH, but the KEEPING OF HIS LAW IS THE EVIDENCE THAT WE HAVE OBTAINED THAT SALVATION! If we still hate YAHWEH'S LAW, that simply means that we still belong to satan. Its really that simple.
