I believe that Jesus ment for us to ask each other for forgiveness and to admit to each other that we have faults and do the wrong thing at times. Keeps us from feeling superior to one another. Keeps us humble.

The philosophical basis of Jesus' theology is the emotion love. In fact, John calls God love, or agape. In a state of true love, you can only accept people for who they truly are. The artificial images we create for each protect our ego. If we confess our faults we can move toward perfection. To use the ancient Christian phrase, God became Man so that Man might become God. Perfection in this sense would only be possible in perfect love which requires perfect knowledge and open sharing.

Because He knows that there is strength in numbers and that fellow Christians and friends can help make you stronger by being a second pair of eyes, ears, mouth, or conscience. I have a close Christian friend that I share my weakness with, and his with me. Together we become stronger and overcome the faults by being there for each other. The more support, the stronger the Faith! Thanks for asking and have a great day!!

We are not perfect yet, But you need to read the verse the right way, it says to confess our faults one to another, & Not our sins, Our sins is confess to God.

because sharing your faults allows for 1) you the ability to look hard at yourself. If you never look at your own faults how can you improve. 2) Allows for input for others to give suggestions on how to help you get past your faults. 3) potentially allows others to see that they have that same fault.
It helps us overcome the wrong we are doing.

It shows humility which opens the door in your life for God to heal you and give you the power to overcome. God draws close to the humble but resists the proud.

So that Satan doesn't have the chance to convince us "You're the ONLY one who ever felt like that.......etc,etc". I'm convinced this is one of his biggest ploys against the Church. Division renders us ineffective even within our own personal lives and families.

Jesus said to forgive one another so that he can forgive us. I think it was for as a sign of asking for forgiveness.

So that we have a friend to help us out with our struggles, he never meant for this to be a lone wolf walk on this earth.
