Give it time. They will adjust to one another and soon be playing with one another. But be watchful. Train them both to lay on their sides with their heads down, then if they are getting too rough with each other, have them both lay down on their sides until you tell them to get up. I have a big dog and a little dog and they love each other and sometimes rough house too much. This skill has really helped me to help them calm down. Eventually you will be glad for your second dog. I feel like my older, bigger dog has helped me to raise and train my smaller dog, like a big brother.

Also take time to play with both of them, individually and together.

Good luck!

As lengthy because the espresso wasn't tremendous scorching from reheating within the microwave or some thing, the dog typically did not get burned. Coffee is in general a drinkable temperature whilst it comes out of the pot so I doubt the dog was once scalded. Most most probably the surprising splash of liquid startled and scared the dog greater than it honestly harm it. I could simply ensure to relief him and ensure he's dry. You too can run a few cool water over his again if you're involved that he did get burned, however ensure he's dry afterwards while you depart.

The older one is just setting boundaries, we got our female boxer when our male was almost a year old. They didn't get along too well at first but they are best friends now. Just give it time. Don't take the puppy back.

I would bet you can get help from a trainer.

Or you can get a book on clicker training from the library

You could do exercises where your older dog gets a treat when you take away his toys. Might make him a more sharing dog.

I think in time they will be fine. In the meantime, be sure to reassure both of them separately (good praise, good doggie). Dogs are really sensitive and do get jealous. We have 5 cats and they are worse than dogs, but I find if they all get their separate time (reassurance) with Mom, they stay settled down.
