It's good to think about the future, and you are at the age where it is necessary and normal (for your life is about to change) but you're right, it has become very intrusive. I recommend some meditation. A few minutes not thinking about anything at all, and a few minutes of focusing and training your mind to focus on the problem at hand. Whenever you catch yourself having dark thoughts about the future, pull yourself out of it. You have to have discipline. I also recommend that to help you pull yourself out from those thoughts, you firmly think to yourself "Que sera sera" (Whatever will be, will be). Have that become your personal mantra. Remind yourself of this, you don't know what the future will bring, but you know that whatever happens will happen, and you just have to roll with the punches or carve a new path. Que sera sera.

I've learned to set goals and set up smaller steps to accomplish those goals. So, I do live for tomorrow, but I focus on the task at hand, so I also live in the present moment.

What are "good" and "happy"? They mean different things to everyone. I don't think that happiness should be THE goal, but many many people disagree. And as for being "good"? Just try to deal fairly and not hurt self or others. Joy, pain, and loss come to everyone. I try to deal with whatever comes along, one day at a time. The Bible says: "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." John Lennon said " Let it Be." Good advice. Namaste.

I try to focus on today. . . .knowing that tomorrow may not even come. I do tend to look ahead at times and worry about things, it is a fault that I have.

I do try to live today and love today as if it were my last, but I also realize that choices I make today will effect tomorrow if it does come. =)

Jesus said, Don't worry about tomorrow, there are enough problems to contend with today(paraphrase)

Another thought, that goes along with this question,is:If we live in the past we rob ourselves of the present,if we ignore the past,we rob ourselves of the future.

I believe we need to do both.

We need to live lives that we can be proud of and would bring us joy today. However, if we believe the bible's promises for the future, we also have to live our lives so as to not jeopardize our chances of gaining the rewards we have been promised.
