It's also when you know deep inside you shouldn't be doing this.

Each couple gets to set their own definitions of cheating, but anything that would be trying to trade in your lover or trying to get anything sexual from someone else usually falls into that category. So running to a masseur for a massage wouldn't be cheating, asking your 'just a friend' for one, and letting it last an hour, would be a bit over the line.
Tell us what happened--there are plenty of judgmental people here who can tell you who was wrong--we're glad to help.

It certainly is. But different partners define it in different ways. As for me and my partner, cheating is defined as anything that I wouldn't want him knowing about. You can cheat on someone emotionally as well as physically. If you are carrying on an emotional relationship with someone over the phone or the computer, and don't want your partner to know, than that would also be considered cheating, even though no physical contact has been involved.

Depends on the person. I think there is such a thing as mental cheating. If your mind is somewhere else (or on someone else) you can be cheating. At times, it's worse then actual cheating (a.k.a sex, kissing, dating...) because if someone has your mind, there are probably real feelings involved.

cheating is not limited to kissing, sexing and dating alone cheating has to do with the inner most feeling or worth or value you've got for somebody. If your sense of value or somebody's worth has reduce ,then you no longer have passion for it ,your inner most quest for such has dropped .Then you tend to go for something new.No love. Therefore it is a psychological problem.

Cheating is anything that causes the trust between two people to be broken. It's the trust that is hard to get back anyway.
