I have been considering getting a new car for a little while now because mine just needs to be replaced. My boyfriend of about 6 months now suggests that I get a similiar car to what he has. I just thought he was trying to be helpful because his car treats him really well. Then I tell him I am looking into getting a dog. He then tells me all the wonderful traits of his Boston Terrier. Mind you, I really dig the dogs but I thought it'd be kind of strange to have similar dogs. Is he just trying to be helpful or what? I don't want to turn into the guy you know. I want to keep things about myself mine but are dogs and cars things that shouldn't be bothering me? It's not like he is changing my personality. It's just similiar dogs and cars, right?

Just get whatever you want. If it happens to be the same as him, so be it. Obviously he cares about you and wants you to be satisfied with your choices. He finds that he is satisfied with his choices, and suggests you make the same choices. But that doesn't mean that they are the only choices that will make you happy.

No you have the right to have your own kinda car and your own kinda dog. Maybe he's just suggestion but sounds creepy to me. My best advice sure keep an open mind but if he starts being pushy or demanding about it .... WATCH OUT ... those are warning signs of a controlling bf. From the sounds of it your getting the same vibe i got so i think your aware of whats going on. Just be cautious cuz what we think are small things ... no big deal he make take as winning in the control dept. Get the dog and car you like ... ur paying for it not him but dont' seem like you don't appreciate his help as it could offend him. Watch for the signs ... it seems you got a good head on your shoulders ! Good Luck and keep us posted !

Anybody who has a dog and loves it, thinks everyone should have a dog just like theirs. And guys think, if they buy a car it is the finest car around. Don't worry so much about it....get what you want to get. If he gets a little screwy after that, like constantly reminding you that his "way" is better, then I would put some distance between the two of you, real quick!

Well its not changing your personality or anything and I think he's trying to be helpful based on the experience he has had with his care and his dog. but that dosen't mean you should get a dog or a car silmilar to his. just get what you like more. like do you have a favorite car or look for any specific traits in a dog. then get that.

I'm sure he is just trying to be helpful in his suggestions since he likes his own car and dog so much. If he gets really upset when you choose something else then I would be worried!

I don't know..he's seems so self satisfied, it might be bordering on ego-centric. Make sure to make sure that it's not all about HIM..... Vive la difference! ...y'know?

check out Consumer Reports, and go to some Dog Lover websites. You cannot have a much more precious commodity than the ability to THINK FOR YOURSELF!

Your personally isn't changing. He's probably just being helpful. He's might be tell you to git the same dog and car as his because he believe there worth your time to get and take care of.

Right. Sounds like he is just giving you info on things he knows about and is just trying to be helpful. It also sounds as though you may be searching for reasons to be upset with him. Could that be?
If so, perhaps this boyfriend is not the guy for you.

Hmm I think its the small things that add up to a totally controling relationship. You should pick what YOU want. Dont lose your identity in the relationship.
