I have received a credit card from the ANZ bank stating I had been successful with my application. Only problem is, I didn't apply for it or for that matter even have an account with that bank. All I had to do is activate it by using the supplied number, it didn't tell me what my credit limit was either if I was to activate the card. This can't be legal, just imagine the amount of debt people could get themselves into this way.

It is legal but if you charge alot of stuff to it and dont pay it off, you will be charged the high interest rates.

I don't know the laws, but what if the card had gotten into the wrong hands? I would think the credit card company would have be responsible. If I were you I would look into this to make sure someone hasn't been filling out credit card applications with your name and info. You could call the issuing bank, or get a a copy of your credit report to see how this happened. I am sorry I couldn't help more.

♥ I would cut it to shreds! I doesnt sound legal. Aspen sent me a real credit card with my name and everything on it. I shred the card and 1 month later I get a bill for the $150 activation/yearly fee. I called them and said this card is NOT activated, I shred it so it has not been used. They said we bill you even if you dont activate it. So the other day after not receiving anything for like 2 months I receive another bill for $150 plus a past due fee and a notice of cancellation... I am keeping that paper because I never activated the card to begin with and I am not paying the $150!!!

Its probably a very bad deal. Like high interest rates and high fees and charges. Maybe even a high annual fee. You should understand all the details and fees before you agree to the card. I would just cut it in half or shred it.

It's not. It's a typical credit card scam. Cancel it immediately.

Do not in anyway deal with this bank. This might be a scam just wanting information from you. Trash it.
