Hi,
My husband and I tried it for a couple of months, as a healthy alternative to the Atkins diet, and we didn't want to try Weightwatchers (again).

We read the book thoroughly, and got a South Beach diet cookbook, too. I'd recommend that, as you'll get very bored if you cook only what's in the diet book proper.

My husband lost weight much more quickly than I on the South Beach. We did feel very healthy whilst on it, and enjoyed the little spinach souffles for breakfast each morning. I lost about a stone in just about three months; my husband lost about a stone and a half. This was about two years ago - we gave up as we plateaued very badly, and were starting to get very bored with eating savoury all the time. There's very little sweet in the diet, which was a struggle for us. On the positive side, it weaned my husband off his caffeine addiction (I've not taken it for over 15 years, now), and he hasn't backslid on that.

At present, I'm rather cynical about most diets - but the South Beach was one that worked fairly well. I was convinced that I'd put weight on, as I'd have to have lots of little snacks - but that's fun, too!

Hi Jane. Yes the diet worked for me. It depends on how your metabolism would act on the diet. For the first 2 weeks I lost about 5 lbs. It would really work with exercise. But before anything else, it is always good to consult a doctor first just to be sure.
Good luck.

to be honest the best way is not to go on a diet as ive tried them all and diet pills and they dont work lol but just change your diet and go swimming 4-5 times a week for about an hour each time it tones your tummy and all your body up wonderful too ! i lost just over 2 1/2 stone since may its great and i eat loads too im just eating the right foods but instead of swimming try aqua arobics its great and really fun ! great question goodluck !

I tried it. It's difficult to stick to... If you actually stick to it, you will lose a little less than what is stated. I didn't lose to much, but after I went back to normal eating, or what they call phase 3, you will gain it all back and posssibly more. I would just try eating sensibly. LIke laying off the extra sweets and oils. You should be fine, I'm sure you look great.
Best of luck!

http://www.myl2you.info , my aunt got a free trial and paid only 6.95$ shipping and handling.
