I say they are trying to look good with the white Americans. What is sometimes called gaining brownie points.

sonrisa, good answer. There is more to it than that. Most of the illegals are brown skin Indios or mestizos. The white Mexicans hate for these people started in Mexico not the USA. Now illegal is just another excuse for their hate. I am almost afull blooded Azteca born in Texas. I have Mexican ancestry. They do not give me a bad name as much as the white Mexicans

Unfortunately, many of the people on here who are oblivious to the cultures of the world do not realize that Mexican is not a race, but a cultural heritage and a way to explain your country of origin. They don't understand that on birth certificates in most countries, even if you are Mexican you are still listed as part of a "race" such as white or black.
It's a social class issue within the Mexican community. The majority of White Mexicans are of a higher social class and therefore feel that they are better. Because some people in the United States tend to generalize and put all Mexicans into the same category, the crimes and problems of non-white Mexicans are attributed to ALL Mexicans, and the white Mexicans tend to get upset by this. I am Puerto Rican and the same thing happens within the Puerto Rican community.

My guess would be the same reason other legal immigrants have a problem with illegals. The legal people followed protocol, and gained a legal status by filling out all the necessary paperwork, and went through all of the correct channels to get where they are. Other people have not, and it is causing a rift between those who have followed directions and those who have slipped through. I don't think that "white" Mexicans are anymore upset about it than other races or Mexican or other people regardless of where they immigrated from. The "white" mexicans still have a Mexican heritage, and the those who are here illegally from Mexico make it hard for the legal ones to be proud of where they came from because the highest population of illegals is from Mexico.

So, are you saying that law-abiding Mexicans are white and that the only good Mexicans aren't white and ignore the laws? The reason any group says that illegals give them a bad name is because they know that children learn what they live. They also know that following the rule of law is one of the determinents of decency. Who wants to be associated with lawbreakers and thugs and cheats? Who wants their children associated with lawbreakers? The argument that illegals only come here for a better life is getting old. Everyone wants a better life. Does that mean it's okay to break the law to get it? Obviously not and there is no excuse.
Ever hear of the saying "One bad apple spoils the whole barrel?" Well, when we have 12-20 million bad apples (illegal immigrants), then the law-abiding immigrants feel like they are in the same barrel with the bad ones.

How can you be a white Mexican? My cousins are half white and half HISPANIC, but they're not white Mexicans! Illegals Mexicans as you call them, give legalized Mexicans a bad name because prejudice people think they are all the same. If you came here from Mexico and became a citizen, Awesome! But the illegals want a free pass when there are plenty of immigrants who came here and had to wait for there citizenship. I think if I had to wait for my citizenship and 20 million people got a free pass, I'd be a little upset about that too.

El Jefe, we can do without the white power racism here.

I'd say the illegals are giving them a bad name due to people generalizing and categorizing them all the same, just as you are saying of all "white Mexicans". You can't stereotype a whole bunch of people based on the encounters you have with a few.

No such thing as a white mexican. I'd say it's the illegals who give mexicans a bad name.

Aside from the color issue.

Illegals give any legal immigrant a bad rap for the reason they took the time to come to this country the right way and learn OUR ways. And their comrades have NO intention of doing that. But they still want the medical, education. And to have the kids they drop out paid for.

I believe they are trying to hard to be an American ,that is their choice? but when they try to out rant the neocon, that bothers me, they believe that if we went away ,their problems will be solved, you Anglos have the same differences, the liberal, the neocons, the independents etc. why are you surprised that we have different groups, with different ideas. And for the anti's among us it will never happen.

white Mexicans? do i sense prejudice against members of your own race. it's obvious that you're envious of what they have, and you yourself feel as if you're missing out on something. this question give illegals a bad name it makes them look like nothing but complainers when they're here illegally, and it all makes not sense to me.
