Snobbery - some Aldi stuff is excellent, olive oil, balsamic, their freshly squeezed juices are half the price of Sainsburys, their cooked continental meats, fresh chicken, their jam is more like conserve packed with fruit, and in a blind taste test we did, their luxury ice-cream beat Ben and Jerry's and Haagen Das - And try their Irish beef steaks - superb!

No idea, I like Aldi though. You can get good ingredients there such as balsamic vinegar and Parmesan for much less than you'd pay in other places. Recently got a big bottle of quality maple syrup for a fraction of the price I'd normally expect to pay. Also some of the frozen food is great, salmon especially and the lemon sole fillets are really really delicious.

The fruit and veg can be a bit hit and miss, Lidl is much better on that front. though Aldi often have special offers on butternut squash recently, it tend to be seasonal offers as you'd expect.

They also sell really lovely dark chocolate bars which arn't expensive and good for both eating and cooking with. They also stock organic frozen oven chips which are nice to have in the freezer for the kids now and then.

Aldi is a great place to pick up bargain price goodies, only problem is I'm hard pressed to be able to do my whole shop there because they don't stock as wide a range as some other stores, super good for the treaty stuff though.

I shop in Aldi too. Its a cheapo pikey mingebag shop. If you buy clothes from there, make sure you remove all the 'Crane Sports' logos from them or your high street cred will go right down the shitter. Do you eat Frickadellens for tea?
