I find it personally impossible to just bring myself out of it. I have to go through it in order to feel better or bounce back. It does not just happen either. it is a process. When depressed all of my energy is wiped out and I have no desire to even get out of bed.
When things are a little less intense I am able to focus on small tasks. Making to do lists are helpful, and trying to accomplish small tasks without feeling overwhelmed in the process helps too.
Try finding something that you are passionate about. That will help you turn your mind away from feeling low.

It depends how long you have been like this.
Is it a long running depression? or just a low moment?
Speaking from experience, when I suffered from depression myself it feels like your in a whole you can't get out of.
You have loads of thoughts that are all mixed up and are unable to sort them out and approach them rationly one at a time. You feel terrible but you havn't got a clue why!
Going to the doctors, if you havn't been already, will be a start.
The most important thing to remember is that it doesn't last forever! Good Luck....

i exercise, or at least do something physical. Go for a walk or vigorously hoover the entire house.
Smell something you like, a body lotion or bath product.
It might not be the same for you but talk to someone. Not about anything serious if you don't feel you can or want to, but just interact. Even inane conversation can help you feel less isolated.
i hope you are feeling OK at the moment

I usually go for a walk and try and concentrate on the things around me, not on my own problems.
Sometimes just being outside, having gentle excercise, meeting/seeing other people, listening to the birds etc. Helps me put things into prospective and realise that life isn't quite so bad after all!

try to find something you really enjoy and start to do it it could be as simple as knitting, sewing or just reading a book.you could even go for a walk around the block .you need to take your mind off whats troubling you.eaiser said than done i now but sometimes all you need is a little distraction just to clear your mind of your troubles.i find that if i go for a ride on my bike i can sometimes feel 100%better afterwards. GOOD LUCK.

Shop!!, seriously when I feel down I take some money out of my bank account and do a little retail therapy and treat myself, of course what works for me may not work for others. But theres nothing better than going shopping then going for a quiet coffee or beer afterwards IMO.

I like to walk along the Thames and watch the world go by. It sorta helps me think more clearly and not feel so alone.
