Well, I volunteer at a hospital and I didn't feel like going today, but my parents are strict with me going there. So today, i got dressed, said goodbye to mom and parked down the street and waited for my mom to leave to work. As soon as she left she saw my car (i think) and passed by it. I haven't talked with her yet but what is a good excuse. And trust me my parents will be pissed if they find out I skipped

Edit ---- i'm thinking about telling her my car was acting weird so i parked and waited 10 minutes and then went to work

Volunteering at a hospital? What a great thing to do. I admire that. We all have days when we don't want to go to work. Unless "playing hookie" is a reoccurring thing for you, then I say it shouldn't be a big deal.

I don't know your age, but the most responsible thing to do, I think, is to call the hospital and let your supervisor know you're not coming in (white lie should be fine - not feeling well, etc) and you probably should have told your mom that you're not going before she left for work.

In the future, I think honesty is the best policy. That way you don't have to use your brain cells for something worthless like keeping up with lies. Just a little advice :)

The "they had plenty of help" might not work, especially if that hospital is already short staffed.

Like someone said, if you are 18 you are an adult and, though you live at home, you are an adult and if you don't want to go you shouldn't have to. If you are under 18, you either need to do a sick excuse (you better call in to work instead of just not showing up!!!) or find another reason.

And hope that your mom did not see your car.

Also start looking around for a paying job, if you are at a legal age to do so that is.

If she did see your car, you need to man up for your actions and admit the truth. Take the consequences for what you did.

And don't make not going to work just because you don't feel like it a habit.

She probably didn't see you. I wouldn't say anything unless your asked. It's not a crime if you didn't go and help volunteer. Upset stomach is probably the best excuse. If you don't enjoy volunteering why bother doing it? You're letting people down that depend on you and if you ever get a real job they aren't going to put up with I just didn't want to go. Is this to look good on a college resume or something? I'd tell them you don't like it and go find something else to volunteer for or get a real job.

well how old are you? if you are over 18 then there is no explaining just say you didnt want to go....I am a big believer on anyone of legal age as an adult. make adult desicions weither its wrong or right. you need to make your own mistakes. Tell them you ran out of gas and walked to the gas station.

you drove off, got to the petrol station cause you had a sore stomach... and realised you jsut got your period! so you went to the pharmacy to buy some meds, took them and wanted to rest for the day! it always works for me. they just cant say anything if its your rags.
