hi im currently 36 weeks pregnant and since saturday afternoon i have had a funny feeling on my back its on the left hand side just below the shoulder blade, it feels like pins and needles and is just numb. occasionaly i will get it in the same place on the right side aswell. it comes and goes and is not painful just strange. anyone got any ideas what it is??

It is best to see your doc asap since you are pregnant and you cannot ask for medical advice here on the net. Medication in any form can be dangerous to both the mother and the foetus. Always trust your doctor. He always is interested in your well-being.
36 weeks is 9 months which means your baby is due any time now. Just wait till you deliver. May be the sensations will wear off as they have appeared.

I think you have a trapped nerve from a prolapse inter vertebral disc. The disc is putting pressure on the nerve which in turn makes it appear it's a sensation. Then you either feel pain or tingling. But you would have to have done something to bring it on, like lift something or turn in a peculiar way.

yes you should tell your doctor/midwife just to be safe, im sure its just the strain of your bump after 4 children my back is a bit of a mess, all sorts of aches and pains are just part and parcel of being pregnant but you must seek advice to be on the safe side to make sure you and your baby are safe and well. All kinds of things happen to the body during pregnancy. You may have strained a muscle or pulled a tendon, but you should call your doctor to make sure. Pregnancy is no time to fool around with your health.
