Don't give me that prayer in school crap. As a teacher I know for a fact that kids can pray, they just can't lead mass prayers during class time.

So what exactly is "oppressing" you?

Many Christians have a special definition of oppressed. You see, whenever people are treated equally, said Christians are oppressed.

It's because said Christians believe in special rights. Everyone else has equal rights, but said Christians have special Christian rights....

That's why they are always saying that gays who want equal rights are asking for special rights...they think their special rights are threatened.

They have the special right of dictating domestic policy for other religions, commiting the second and third deadliest acts of terrorism in the country and STILL having people scared of Muslims and getting their god's name said in the prayers of other people.....

Don't you know? Everyone but these Christians is oppressed when denied equal human rights, but said Christians are oppressed because their special rights are threatened.

It's like reverse discrimination. For example, I live in So Or am 56 and a recently retired elem teacher. I have lived here for 33 years. We had only white people here for about 25 of those years, which was not my choice, but then the Hispanics moved in, which is fine, but now one cannot get a job unless they are bilingual, how ridiculous, after all these years. Well, Christians are being focused on as the bad guys, don't let them pray before or after a soccer game, by choice of the student. That is crazy, if the team wants to pray on their own and all players are free to choose, this should be allowed, but it isn't How is that freedom of religion ? I know, my kids played here for years and stuff like that. I see how the Radical Right Wing Christians who think everyone and everything should be Christian including the public schools have caused this, but it is a radical boomerang effect that goes against my kids' rights to pray if they choose to.

First of all, you must keep in mind that not all Christians feel they are oppressed in the USA. I happen to be a Christian and in no way do I feel oppressed for my Christian beliefs. Typically, you get these claims of oppression from anti-gay, pro-bigotry groups. By claiming to be oppressed, they use fear to get their supporters to send them more money. They are really angry, because society and our laws are understanding that these groups do not have the special right to discriminate against gay Americans.

This same "oppression" argument trickles down to this Answers area. You will find users here who claim that they are victims of intolerance by those who feel gay Americans should have the same rights as other Americans. The idea is to turn the table so that the oppressor suddenly appears to be the oppressed. It won't work in the long run, because it's not gay people trying to pass laws to keep others from marrying, obtaining health insurance, being in the military or adopting children. Who is being oppressed and who is being intolerant is pretty clear if you bother to look and listen. More and more people are catching on to this word game.

I dont particularly see the Virgin Mary as everyone out of the oridnary, yet i do agree that all and sundry women ought to be respected afterall if we did not have women there could be no human existance. women are between the main sacred components of our existance, if not the main mandatory section. a guy or woman shouldnt ought to experience the could desire to tutor off what they have in hopes of catching someones interest, if a guy or woman is trouble-free and shows whats on the interior the exterior shouldnt count. as long as human beings at the instant are not forced into donning something to cover who they are or to tutor off a definite part of them then its high-quality. A Hijab isn't immoral, oppression or something that hides the incontrovertible fact that the guy in the back of it continues to be a guy or woman and a female. The Hijab is a cultural element and prefer custom they are issues that is chosen to be worn or not. I carry women in very extreme regard if not the optimum regard. Being a female on my own is worth of great know, being a mom, spouse, or despite is worth of even greater suitable know.

They are NOT being treated fairly and equally under the law. They should pay taxes so they would not feel singled out. Also they must feel oppressed by the undue attention that is paid them. Like on the money and the pledge of allegiance. That i oppression indeed.

Why, haven't you heard? -- Being a majority means you can treat minorities as you see fit, including not letting them adopt children or have a legal marriage and all the privileges and protections associated with same. Oh, and you can also tell 'em you don't like who they sleep with and nobody can tell you that you're a filthy-minded bigot for saying so

Because they can't always get away with this behavior, obviously America's Christians are oppressed. QED.

I'm not christian, but let me say that christians are by far the most put upon religion by atheists. The first religion most of us tend to bash is christianity, and we tend to leave polytheistic religions alone for the most part.

However, i believe islam is the most oppressed religion in the US of A. Where I live you'd be thought as a terrorist if you mentioned you were muslim.
