As we age the bones degenerate or soften and become deformed. It is a natural aging process. It is not a pathologic condition. It is used loosely to indicate pathology. It is similar to grey hairs or wrinkled skin. As one ages especially in the females in postmenopause the bones soften and calcium replacements are needed about 1000-1500mg per day with Vitamin D in the winter months. Avoid smoking and light regular exercises are good for the bones to prevent osteoporosis

Speak to your doctor about a treatment of calcium and vitamin d.Their is medication for certain bone ailments, like osteoporosis etc.but the doctor can inform you better about this.I'm also curious if you could mean, degenerative disc disease? There is no cure for that,an operation does not work.
