Hi, can somebody please tell me (this question i know is silly because its probably obvious) but what is a "hair relaxer"
I have a feeling its for afro-carabieen ladies wanting to remove some of their curl, but i think this is a shame - why would a lady do this?
Any help with my silly question guys?

Yup, it straightens out curly or wavy hair. Dunno how it works though LoL!

A hair relaxer, doesn't necessarily take out curls, it makes the hair softer, less stiff, less wiry. This is usually used by people of Afro/American descent because of their thick hair type. It makes the hair easier to style.

Your right about the curl part, it's for people who want to remove the curl out of there hair. So they just relax it..I tried it once though...It didn't do much for my hair.

yep.. although not just for that hair
its for people with hair that is really curly also.. that goes into tight curls and straightners won't work.
its chemical based.. people have to be careful using it , as leaving it on may burn the hair / scalp

well its a chemical to make ur hair straighter softer and smoother but is actually cery bad for it and it is not only for african american women bcuz some white girls do it to like lots of my friends

i relax my hair, it straightens it,
i do it because its more easier to handle, and it think it looks a lot nicer when its relaxed
