Surgery is not my field and hopefully you'll get a clever theatre sister or vascular surgeon who can answer your question better.

However ...

If you are going to operate on a patient and you are expecting vascular trauma you are going to want to have a few extra things over and above what you need for ordinary abdominal operations:

Aortic clamps - cross clamp, +/- side clamp, etc.
Sump sucker

Probably lots and lots of haemostats

In general, "vascular" instruments have a finer cross-hatch on the jaws and are less destructive to the tissues than regular clamps and forceps.
