I've always let kittens out as soon as they become interested in whats outside the door and they've been fine! Kitten's can handle themselves outside - afterall, that's where they'd live naturally. If they get scared they'll run and hide til danger passes. Remember when you got her home and let her out - she probably ran and hid for a small dark space. She's probably just done the same thing.
If she re-appears - don't go chasing her, especially if she doens't like being picked up. That'll just scare her more and will dissapear again.
Leave the door open with some food and water and let her come to you.
That said,. before I let cats out, I always make sure they know their names and will come when I call them for dinner. I also always let them out for the first time when they're hungry so I know it won't be long before they come back.
Good luck!!!

If it was not de-clawed and was that paranoid, then there is a chance that that cat jumped the fence and ran off or became lost. My sister adopted an older cat that acted the same way but she kept it inside and let the cat be unitl it was comfortable to explore on its own accord. It finally warmed up to her and the family, it just took time. You may have let that little kitty have a too much freedom too soon. Being that it is a kitten then there may also be a chance that it was not ready for exploration at such a young age and, well, life can be hard in the real world.

She could be in your garden it sounds like, you could be walking and calling right near her and not know it. I'm surprised the foster mommy didn't tell you the unwritten rule of when a cat/kitten is relocated. You shouldn't let him out, if you are going to do that, for at least 2 weeks after you get him, so he can get used to the fact of where he now lives and the smells and just generally get reaclimated. I would truly think twice before letting a 2 mo. old kitten out, period. They are too young to defend themselves and they are too curious and playful, it would be easy to wander and not be able to find its way home. Put up some flyers in public areas in your town, Post office, convenience stores, etc. and comb your street and ask neighbors, sometimes they are not far at all, but if she is new to you, if someone found her they would not know who she belongs to. I hope you find your kitty, but keep her in, please, she is only a baby. Even as an older cat you are risking animal fights, cars, unwanted pregnancy (make sure you get her fixed asap if she isn't already, cause that will definitely make her roam, and she could end up pregnant at a much too young age.

No offence but that "foster mom" was an idiot. For one kittens should never be left outdoors on their own. It's a big scary world to them and dangerous. If it had been me that had adopted the kitten out I would have never allowed her to go where I knew she was going to be outdoors right away. You should have been instructed to begin with kitty indoors at first and once she trusted you and knew her "area" then she could have been gradually introduced to the outdoors. (I personally don't care for having full time out door cats but I know sometimes people have their reasons) That poor kitten in probubly scared to death, especially since she obviously has trust issues if she doesn'y like to be touched (very unusual in a kitten of that age.... ). I really hope that she comes back. I don't mean to sound like I am coming down on you, I'm actually not, I'm discusted with the "foster mom" who should have known better and should have given you better advise. If kitty turns up, PLEASE, try to catch her and take her indoors. She will be much happier in the long run and you won't have to worry that she won't come home. Best of luck to you.

I would not let a tiny kitten out into the garden unsupervised. So I do hope she returns safely. Try calling her and perhaps tempting her back to the house with an interesting noise - a bell or the rustle of a paper bag....
You might want to consider keeping your kitty inside 24/7 - this will keep your kitty safe from harm and will give you peace of mind. It will also protect local wildlife from your kitty - who has a natural hunting instinct. It is not cruel to keep cats as indoor cats and they can lead extremely happy lives this way as long as you provide them with plenty of toys and a scratching post.

Any cat, especially new kitten, must be kept inside for a month until he has gotten used to the new environment.

The cat did not see the love in you. Cause you was putting her out side. Baby kitten are to young to be out side with out a mother to look after them. Some body took the cat in where she is happy until she ready to go out.
