It depends on what I could handle at the time.
Normally I'd go with the truth.
I sought that before my father died.
That doesn't mean I'll always be that strong. If one of my children were dying I might avoid facing the Truth until the bitter end. I don't know.
How I choose to deal with it when the time comes is no indication of any of my virtues. I can love my children the same and pick truth or false hope.
The only time false hope is dangerous is when it's institutionalized and society itself forces people to suffer.
For instance if I develop bone cancer and face a long agonizing death. I live in the USA so it will cost me and my family everything to pay for the treatments to keep me alive and in pain at the expense of my children's inheritance.
In that case I should have the choice about continuing my life or not. It's hard to be so feeble you can't off yourself so I doubt I'd need assistance.
Way to many people would get all in my face about my view about this, but it would be the right decision in love of myself, and my family. For those who would condemn me via Christ I fail to see how it's that terribly different then him laying down his life.
To bad life isn't black and white. Those that want it to be are stupid.
Blessed Be

My wife was dying of ovarian cancer and we had False hope that she would be cured by Taxol. When she failed to qualify for the trials we knew and believed the truth that she would die and we were peaceful with the inevitable. Knowing and accepting the truth is the path to being content.

I would rather know the truth so I can brace myself for the worst case scenario but many times I've been proven wrong and doctors themselves don't have all the answers.

False hope - 'cause with God, there's always a chance of anything happening. So i would have hope - no, i would have Faith......and it wouldn't be false.

Sounds like you either deal with it now or after it is concluded your choice but you might regret not dealing with it at all after the person dies so think it out thoroughly .

Little bit of both. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best.
