Justice can be described as an equal punishment or consequence, based on the act commited.

It would be unjust for a j-walker to be sentanced to death for example, as j-walking is not equal to death.

SO, how is it possible that someone could deserve an infinite amount of punishment (Hell = eternity, right?) because a finite amount of sins they have commited?

Wouldn't God have said so in the beginning? "IF YOU EAT FROM THIS TREE YOU WILL POSITIVELY GO TO HELL". He actually said "You will DIE" which is the ultimate price for sin. Consider if you will that Adam and Eve were perfect, therefore their sin was much greater than anyone after them. Wouldn't it be unfair for them to just die, and the rest of us being tortured eternally? Throughout the bible when good men died, it states that they went to She ohl. But also when bad men died (bad kings etc) they also "laid down with their fathers." How is it that Good Righteous men go to the same place as Evil ones? She ohl, and later Hades are just symbols of the human grave. That's it. The ULTIMATE price for sin is Death. You don't have to keep paying back taxes. It isn't a bank.

Ok, the only problem here is with your logic. Hell is not a punishment. It's not like a prison or some correctional facility. The prison is here on earth. You have your entire life, how ever long that is, to turn your heart to the Lord. Hell is not a punishment, it is the consequence for your actions (sin). If you eat nails you're going to have internal bleeding. You can even die from it. Hell is very much like the death you'd receive, and those nails are you partaking of sin. It's simply not good for you what so ever, but we all do it none the less. God knows this and has given us this life as a grace period to turn to Him. Should we do this, He will take our punishment for us. This is really simple. God knows that not everyone will turn their hearts to Him, so Hell is the only existence in which you will be apart from God. So why does it have to be eternal? Well, God made man in His image, and God is an eternal being... so God has made us eternal as well. He wants to love us for all eternity. Those who make it to Hell are those who don't want God's love... and they made that choice in this life. God can have nothing to do with sin, and if you don't want anything to do with God, then you'll need to be outside of His presence. The sad part about this is that we were made to need God, and it's hard for us to acknowledge this fact in this life time... however, in the next it will be absolutely clear. The only reason why you don't know the full truth is because you choose to not know it. All things point to the One True Creator, and the Lord Jesus. All man-kind deserves Hell, but God wants all to have Heaven. So He gives us the choice... if you make it to Hell, it's because you want to go there. God will try to stop you by letting you live longer in this life. God is no puppet master, and man has a choice in the matter. I personally choose the choice which is hardest, and that is the path Jesus walked. It is hardest because I will need help because I'm a sinner. The paths to Hell are many, and anyone can walk those without any help.

wrong- we all deserve hell- because we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. God is holy , and we are not so sin is sin- no matter how much or how many sins we commit in our lifetime. One thing I do not understand though is this- there is also heaven. And we as sinners, have a chance to live eternally there too- why wouldn't everyone want to do that? I cannot understand it- I could see if you asked this question and there was no hope for us- but there is- Jesus came to earth to die on the cross so that we could live eternally in heaven with God instead of eternally without Him in hell. God does not want us to go to hell, however, their has to be payment for our sin- why not give your life to Christ, He paid it all, instead of us having to pay it later. Try to concentrate on the fact that God would give us the chance to be forgiven at all- and then you will see the truth, here.

You are right -- it is an evil teaching of the Devil himself and those he has lead astray.

That anyone can claim that a loving Father would eternally punish a human being for wrongs committed during his 50-80 years of life is absolutely inconceivable.

Look at the nazi's.I mean they killed a finite amount of people but the pain they caused to thousands of people stayed in thier hearts until the day they died.Or look at the child molesters. They molested a child for a finite amount of time yet the emotional pain stays in thier minds forever.

Hello and we have some large misunderstandings here, first God in The book of Rev.20:14,21:8 describes Hell as the second DEATH, the "EFFECTS" of Hell is forever NOT the fire itself, and God is Love but Justice also He gave Himself that we might not die, John 3:16 but our salvation is not without our doing something 'if' we Love Him then we MUST obey Him John 14:15 and IF we do not love Him enough to keep His commandments we will NOT love Him enough to be there the act of which sin that is done is not the point we are born lost, and ONLY in Jesus Christ is there salvation, but it is our free choice to accept it or not, God bless. free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org

Hell as a place of eternal torment does not exist and is not biblical. It is one of Satan's lies to make God look like Satan really is...a sadistic dictator.
According to the Bible, in the Old Testament, Sheol in Hebrew and in the New Testament, hades in Greek...the abode of the dead...the grave.
Psalms 89:48 says that all the dead go into this place, both the righteous and the wicked. Jacob said, "I shall go down in the grave [Sheol]" Gen 37:35. In Numbers 16:30, the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the wicked Korah and his company that had tried to take over, down to Sheol.
Sheol receives the whole person at death. When Christ died, He went into the grave or hades, but at the Resurrection His soul left the grave according to Acts 2:27, 31. When David thanked God for healing, he testified that his soul was saved from Sheol in Psalms 30:3.
Time and time again, the Bible teaches that the grave is not a place of consciousness. Since death is a sleep, the dead will remain in a state of unconsciousness and decay, in the grave until the resurrection, when hades gives up its dead. (Revelation 20:13).
Although the body returns to dust, the spirit or "life-force" returns to God. Solomon said that at death the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it (Eccl. 12:7) This is true for both the righteous and the wicked. The Hebrew and Greek terminology for the life force or spirit refers to an energy or spark of life, not an intelligent entity capable of conscious existence apart from the body.
Solomon explained that man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: as one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath/spirit or life force; man has no advantage over the animal....All go to the same place; all come from dust and back into dust. Eccl 3:19-21.
Judgment day will come--those who have freely chosen not to accept Him; those who have deceived millions with falsehoods regarding God; Satan and his fallen angels will all be granted their wish to be eternally separated from God...no more life force for them. They will be consumed with this corrupt world. We will return to a New Earth and live together with Him...Oh what a day that will be! Sadly, the unrepentant sinner will never have to be faced with Christians "cramming religion down their throats" as many have said on this forum.

The bottom line is that a person who is deliberately breaking rules or laws is going to continue trying to get away with it in Paradise. When Satan is destroyed, God does not want anymore sin to exist. A rebellious spirited person will not remain pure unless that rebelliousness is cured by Christ's love. When the probation time is up, those who are unjust will remain unjust; those who are righteous under Christ's purification will remain righteous until the end.

how can you compare a Jwalker to the truly evil human beings out there? God does his best to make Hell as abhorrent to us as possible so that we do what we can to avoid it...for those that dont give a ****...why worry about them whether they spend eternity in hell for what they did on earth.

On the other hand God says he is the Most Merciful and Most Forgiving and indicates that everything will be forgiven except shirk(worshipping something other than him) in time...as in we all have to spend a finite amount of time in hell according to what we did....makes sense to me....but still not looking forward to it.

unjust and unreal ...The idea of hell developed from the Hebrew word for the cremation grounds outside the city where garbage and dead bodies were taken and burned
making a horrible stench . It is seen to develop throughout the bible and also by artistic secular creations such as Dante's infernal and other depictions by artists . Does sound man made or mysterious ways of god who changed his mind more time then a waffling politician looking desperately for votes . I'd concern myself more with hell on earth.

Hell isn't punishment, it's torture. Punishment is something that's given to people that do something wrong so that they learn a lesson and don't do it again. Hell is eternal, making it nothing less than torture. Religion is flawed.
