Personal Finances. And I took several classes on the subject, even one in college. It didn't help.

I'm now using my hard-learned lessons, to help younger family members. (I wish someone had done this for me).

The issue that I've learned the most about that they didn't teach me in school was how to be a parent, and as much as I believe that that's primarily taught by watching your parents parent you and your siblings. I think that they should teach child development in high school, that way when people do have children they would know what to expect when and they wouldn't have unrealistic expectations of their children. do you know how many people think that very young children cry just to make the parents upset?? Do you know how many parents get up set when they try to toilet train the child and it doesn't work because the child is to young to understand what the parent wants?/ Or how many parents get up set because the neighbors daughter is more advanced than their son not realizing that boys mature at a slower rate than girls?? I really think that they should teach child development from birth through age five so that first hand parents have some idea of what to expect and so that they can treat their children by their age not what they think the child should do because little johnny down the block can do it.

Many things should be taught but are not.
- How to develop a budget.
- How to deal with people, [people skills]
- Critical thinking[ do you know many who know what this even means?]
- How to parent
- How to NOT be a parent. [ birth control]
- Relationship skills [ how to be a good wife, husband, friend, neighbor you can be]
- Goal setting- setting goals in life and work.
The schools teach so many things that cannot really be applicable to life. I wish they would eliminate useless topics and teach courses in real life issues!!

It is simple school is for schooling and the outside world is for knowledge and that is where education lies.Real life education can't be taught in school because it is an individual experience.
