all the prices are the same unless its a bundle pack or better console because sony makes the prices and the stores that sell them only make a small profit so unless you buy used you really wont be able to get that big of a price change

So they can compete with the 360. A lot of people (myself included) are not happy with Sony because of the high price and the little limited-release fiasco over Christmas.

ACTUALLY
the ps3 dropped in price because the production costs of blu ray diodes in the blu ray drives went significantly downward, allowing sony to drop the price.

It was way to expensive for most gamers budgets.
Also Nintendo's wii system outsold ps3 6 to 1 in Japan and America, not combined.

They have not sold anywhere near the amount of consoles that they anticipated, and therefore by putting the price down a little, they are hoping to attract more buyers before game developers become disheartened by them.

probably the fact that they cant keep some1 that high cause once a person can save up $600.00 there going to have a new product .... or since not everyone can afford it which cuts down on sales

They said that something was coming along that was going to outbeat the PS3.

the xbox 360 is better in games and everthing and HALO3 ,the reason is like the other answer is that the ps3 is loosing money and wants it lowered for the christmas season shopping

probably not enough sales...
i would think, or else, they are going to come out with something better and more expensive, that EVERYONE will want to have...
