If so, why?
From a biological standpoint, there as absolutely nothing unique about Homo sapiens. We have all of the features that fit us right into our phylogenetic branch of the tree of life (primates, mammals, vertebrates, animals, eukaryotes,...). If you take issue with the biological classification of humans, then please explain to me how you are not a primate, mammal, vertebrate, etc.
So, what is so special about the primate Homo sapiens? We have our own adaptations, but so does every other living organism. How would you say (if you do) that our specific adaptations make us in some way superior?

Hey Rif,
Big deal. Let me see you outrun a cheetah, or fly off a cliff, or climb the windows of a skyscraper....
All adaptations. Why do you consider your ability to get a drivers license as "better"? Your tail is hardly as impressive as a peacock's.
capish?

Ok, so your opinion is that you are a superior species if you can drive. Got it. It's clear now, thanks.
I could teach a parrot to say "capish"

From a biological standpoint, no we are the same. Even inferior to a degree.
From a psychological standpoint we are as different as a plant and an animal.
We are self-aware; we are not guided by our instincts; we are capable of abstract thought and morality.
We can manipulate our environment and our physiology.
We physically no longer need to evolve because we can simply change our environment to meet our deficiency.
As such humans are animals and part of the living world, but are superior to them because we act and think above instinct.
The life of a cat and the life a human are not equal, and that to a degree makes us separate.

Animals, for as long as recorded history shows, have not developed from their current state. Cats still lie around and do nothing, squirrels bury nuts, birds build nests, fish still fall for a worm on a hook. However, humans have figured out how to write, fly, cook foods in new ways, and have figured out how to destroy the planet. No other animals have developed in that way.
You look at the world and say look how all the cells work in the same way. I look at the world and think "Wow God, our creator, was really smart to make us all so similar."
Your classifications of animals and man were created by......man. Someone years ago could have decided to classify everything differently, and we would all look at the world differently. A Christian's view point has never changed: God made the world and gave it to us, his children.
Man can classify us however he wants, the only opinion that counts is the one we all answer to in the end.

The thing that makes so many people believe is their unshakable knowledge that there IS a GOD. They come to this conclusion for differing reasons. But there it is. Just because someone lives a life of Faith in God, that does not mean that they don't believe in Science and logic as well. Many Christians are intelligent and educated persons who understand your POV. Don't be confused by the popularity of Faith and Belief in God. People have believed in God a lot longer than they have believed in science and logic. It may take a while for people to come around to your way of thinking...Blessings!

Look, pal. If you want to consider yourself as being undifferentiated from the primates, knock yourself out. When you see one of them apply for and get a driver's license, you let me know-capish?

Well, it took god a half a day to whip up all the billions of planets, quaasars, black holes, stars, asteroids, moons etc. And a full day to make humans.
My best guess is, it's really hard to get the skin to fit just right.

We are the smartest form of life (that we know of) and we have the crazy ability to modify our environment (with technology and stuff) to serve our needs and wants. Other then that, we are no different they any other form of life.

We are different because we are made in the image of God.
We have an immortal soul. We have the ability to distinguish right and wrong.

No, of course not... BTW, we're H. sapiens sapiens, having been here only ~130,000 years. ... H. sapiens has been here for ~800,000 years and includes H. sapiens idaltu and more. FWIW.
