Marine Corps recon (reconissance) goes into enemy territory on recon missions to gather information. It is an incredibly hard task and training, you will learn to sit still for hours and days at time while bugs eat at you and you urinate in your pants, just for an example. It is the hardest of all services and a very elite group. What you may be talking more about is a marine corps sniper, who also has incrediblely hard training and takes out enemies with one single shot, usually directed at a high ranking enemy official. Good luck devil dog!

Hon, marine recons do exactly that, they reconnoiter or scout areas ahead of other troops. It is an admirable job in the military, albeit scary. That is scary to go where no marine has gone before, so to speak. You sound like you want to also go "Airborne" What a cool job that is. I went "Airborne" myself when I was in the Army during Vietnam era. I was in Vietnam and did not go "Airborne" there, but you are also looking into possibly intel. Talk to your recruiter and tell him exactly what you want to do and if your test scores are high enough in certain areas, they'll allow you to do almost anything you want in the military, but get your high school diploma first. If you are inclined to, I would suggest you get a college degree also before going into the marines, you could then possibly qualify for OCS and much better pay and better opportunities.

Okay first breath. Think about what you are going to do. Its hard to do that. I know a lot of SEALs dropouts because they couldn't get though. Now There in the Navy for 6 years in a job (rate) they don't like because they thought they couldn't get though BUD's . I'm not saying that you should serve your country because I'm still active duty and I don't regret coming in at the age of 19. I knew what I was doing and made plans in case something happened to me. Soon I will leave the more wiser than when I came in. Just don't jump in to something to quick or you may end up unhappy

Considering the awful mangling of the English language present in your question, I don't think you will score high enough on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) to qualify for even enlistment in the Corps.

if you don't know what recon Marines do, why do you want to be one?
