I took a management position. My predecessor was a Director. I report to a VP. Can I call myself a director on the resume, even though my official title is Manager?

If they call to verify your title and its different than you stated they may view that as lying and wont hire you.

Put your true title on the resume, but make sure when you describe your accomplishments on the job and state you also that you report to the VP.
