Chocolate is always a great standby. I recently saw a wedding favor that involved a lottery ticket and a printed card that said "Hopes for riches from the new Mr. and Mrs.". It would be fun if nothing else.

Truthfully keep it simple unless you just have a lot of money to blow. How many weddings have you been to? and how many wedding favors have you kept? I am going to be not many. The only one I have ever kept from a wedding was a book mark because I read allot. We did a bookmark with the wedding date and names on it and some after dinner mints in a little tin and I easily think we could of gone with one or the other. There are so many other big things to stress about don't stress about this one.

2 ideas come to mind: a picture frame....that is the only kind of favor that I have kept over the years...you can use them again. Another good one was an ornament..one that you can hang on a tree or use as a decoration for a specific holiday for whenever your wedding date may be....Good luck!

Set up a candy bar at the wedding with a wide assortment of sweets and cute personalized bags for the guests to fill with the treats of their choice. Everyone likes candy and it won't get thrown out or clutter up someone's home. Not everyone is going to like a frame, or a candle and you can't really go out and buy a bunch of different things.

At a friend's wedding that I attended last year, instead of giving a traditional wedding favor that no one really uses, they made a donation in the name of their guests to a charity. In this case, it was to the American Cancer Society because the bride's father was a cancer survivor. I thought that was such a great idea -- and for a such a great cause.

This was a hard decision for us because we wanted whatever we gave out to be classy, not tacky like bubbles. We chose to give out book marks. They were simple - dark wood with a maroon ribbon on top (maroon was one of our colors). We wrapped each book mark in pretty wedding paper (like you'd wrap a burrito) and put a maroon ribbon on the outside to keep it closed. We also glued a small tag on the outside with our names and wedding date. It took a bit of time to do (200 of them), but it was worth it. We had them in a nice basket on the same table as the guest book at the reception. They got a lot of compliments.

Good luck!!

people on this site say that candy is the best thing to give (but not the almonds of doom). m&m's and jelly beans work better.

it depends if what kind of theme you have. Christmas bulbs are nice gifts to give and if you get them the Christmas BEFORE, you can save some bucks. same goes for Christmas picture holders that can double as the name card holders.

personally i think a nice photo of the couple is a nice gift. they can put it in a scrapebook along with your wedding invitation.

My girlfriend had stubby holders made up with a cartoon on them and their names and the wedding date, for the guys invited to the wedding. And for the girls cd's made up with a photo of her and her husband on the front and the 5 main songs of the wedding on it. I still listen to the cd and guys always need a stubby holder!

I gave my guests imprinted pens. We got them in our wedding colors with our names and the date on them. They were put at each place setting so that the guests could use them to write us a note on the inside of their name card and placed in a large footed crystal vase. Some of my family still tell me they use them quite often! They really are inexpensive, (250- 499 for $.27 per),nice looking and practical!
