I am 23 and I want to try living somewhere else and when I visited Cayman I really loved it. I currently live in California and want to move by May of next year. I know there are a lot of requirements for this whole thing. Anyone that has some info or advice for me, I would love to hear from you. Thanks!

There are three things you should be aware of.

1. When you go through customs, you MUST have a return ticket.

2. There is a time limit for "ex-pats" (non-Caymanians) to stay. What that means is you spend a night or two in Miami, and then return.

3. Most important...you will not be able to find a job, unless your employer can show the government that a Caymanian could not be found to take that job. Caymanians have absolute priority for work.

Other than that, you picked a good place, even though it is very expensive.

First of all, the cost of Real Estate, I am not sure where in CA you live but Grand Cayman is really really expensive.Studios start at $100,000 , Townhouses priced at $250,000 USD are common, want bigger house ? Have you got $600,000 to $3,000,000 USD for it ? If so, go and talk with Cayman Immigration about a residence Visa!

i organized a girls trip years ago when we were in college. we met a bunch of guys that were spending the summer there. i think it is possible to stay for extended visits. i do not know what the work requirements are. i would check / research and see. the prices are expensive in cayman but the real estate is also very expensive in California.

You'll need to start by getting a job offer from a GC company (or a US Company willing to sponsor you there). The company will have to apply for a work permit on your behalf.
Without a work permit, you will not be able to work.. and without a significant investment (I think it's about $500K) you won't be able to get immigration papers.

Perhaps you should try the USVI or Puerto Rico, since they are US territories,, you won't have to go thru the red tape,

BTW.. jobs are difficult to find, most jobs are open to locals first.. only when you can't find a local to take the job can it be offered to an outsider.
