I am an atheist and would never have a death bed recant. I would instead think that if I were famous, it would read in the headlines that I did at the last minute. It has happened before unfortunately.

How many pedophile priests are planning on a death bed recant?
How many republicans...?
Do you think Ted Haggard would've recanted if he had never been found out?

How would anybody know the answer.
I can only speak for myself and say that the idea of eternal life appals me.
Just imagine waking up on your 200 billionth day of existence with the same smug bunch of hypocrites and the search for something new to say or do.It would be a living nightmare.
Just have the courage to accept that your time is over for better or for worse and leave the future to the next generation who will hopefully make the world a better place than you did.

That's the problem: to what religion would I recant?
I can't recant to them all without pissing off one incarnation of God or another, so I just have to hope that God isn't that picky.

Come on dude, you need to check your spelling before you post. "Repent" not recant.

You apparently don’t realize how *SUPREMELY SILLY* your 'God' is - this is directly akin to *you* 'recanting' for *your* disbelief in the Kind and Mighty FSM, the Fleet IPU and Mother Goose - all at the same time - on *your* death bed. ... ( FSM: http://www.venganza.org/ )

I guess they won't know until they are on their deathbed. This would affect your life, how exactly?
Voltaire (1694-1778) "This is no time to make new enemies." (When asked on his deathbed to forswear Satan.)
Edited- why would your God want someone who was so disingenuous as to change his mind at the last minute anyways, just so he could go to Heaven?

That is assuming that some of us won't be killed instantly in a tractor trailer accident or shot in the back by a religious fanatic.
