Nope, not with their bills. People just think this because they'll sometimes nip at you. They actually flog things with their wings. They will flap their wings but bring them very close together in front (almost like clapping) and it's VERY powerful and hurts a LOT! One of my ducks killed a hawk after the hawk got one of her babies. I had come outside just in time to see her beating away at this hawk, and about a minute later, the hawk was dead.

I run a duck rescue and refuge.
There are all sorts of ducks, and they behave in different ways.
A wild duck, native to it's environment, will be able to fly away. There are many species of domesticated ducks bred for meat that can't fly as their bodies are too big for their wings to lift. If you corner any duck, it will grab with their beak or scratch trying to get away, but neither of these are very good protection mechanisms.
Ever heard of the phrase 'sitting duck'? That's basically what it's like for them - they are extremely vulnerable and open to wounding and death, very easily. Anything will attack them including foxes, dogs, cats, other birds - and especially people. People are cruel.
Ducks make wonderful pets, again this comes in a variety of ways. I have ducks handraised from babies who will sit and be cuddled and follow me around. I've rescued ducks that have been tamed, over a period of time and will now sit and cuddle with me. I've taken over other people's tame backyard ducks - some of which will have contact with you, others won't. It depends entirely on how they've been raised and treated by humans. It gets down to their trust in you and can detect your love and care for them.
I repeat, they make beautiful pets, but the human quotients will always be the question mark. Please look after them. For any advice, yahoo groups have 'duck rescue' & 'petducksrus'.

From watching my ducks, they tend to just fly (well, running really fast and flapping their wings) away from my hens.
Ducks do have very sharp little nails on the ends of their webbed feet that can cause a good amount of bleeding (found out by accident).
While their bites really don't hurt too bad, it is enough to make you not want to have it bite you again!

Lots of wing flapping, raising their bodies high and pecking with rapid head movement. If they can't drive away the opponent, they fly off.
