Sneebs had it right when he said Ft. Lewis & Ft. Carson. My Family is currently at Ft. Carson, and my wife loves it. It takes a little time to get used to the altitude and there is a large military community in the Colorado Springs area with two Air Force Bases, the Air Force Academy and NORADs Cheyenne Mountain Complex. My wife would probably rank the bases we've been to in the following order:
1 - Ft. Lewis, WA
2 - Ft. Carson, CO
3 - Ft. Knox, KY
4 - Ft. Huachuca, AZ
5 - Ft. Polk, LA
6 - Ft. Riley, KS
My wife jokingly says that if I ever get an assignment to any place in Texas, specifically (Ft. Bliss or Ft. Hood) it would be grounds for a divorce. She also thru in Ft. Irwin, CA for good measure.

I love Ft. Lewis and have found it to be the best base I have ever been to. Many other bases are surrounded by cities filled with people who hate the soldiers. I'd have to say that my second favorite is Ft. Carson, CO. It is much like Ft. Lewis. I would definitely recommend that you try and get to Germany or Italy. It is a great experience for any soldier and family. It is beautiful and it will give you a chance to travel around Europe. It is a life experience that will always be remembered.

NAB Coronado, on the beach side, it was just nice to work right next to the beach, facing the Pacific Ocean. Second would be Fleet Combat Training Center Pacific, located on the ocean side of Point Loma, not much for facilities, but it had a nice view of the ocean, and lots of trees. Always enjoyed going there both as a student, and later being stationed there as an instructor.

Camp Kuwae, Okinawa. It's now called Camp Lester and is the site of the Naval Hospital. I was part of the commissioning crew which took over the old Army Medical Center and turned it into a Naval Hospital. Had quarters for my wife, my four children and myself about one block from my office at the Hospital. Children went to a Catholic Mission School instead of DOD schools. It was my third tour on the island. Both my wife and I knew the culture and the language. Temperatures like Honolulu year round. A real jewel of the Pacific.

Fort Bragg NC, the only other base I was stationed at was Fort Gordon for reclassing. TRADOC Sucks, and Fort Polk for rotations to JRTC. So it is a no brainer.
