..said that my parents must abide by the law that I be in a booster seat. I went in for a physical and stand 53'' tall and weigh 65 pounds and am very healthy.
Being that I am good and healthy and wouldn't get hurt, do I even need to be in a booster seat afterall? I will go tell my parents to throw it away because ALL my friends are out of one, and my 8 yr old friend is even out of one. Already! "come on!"

By law, you don't have to be in one...the law for Washington state says younger than 8 years or taller than 4'9", not both. It might be safer for you, though...it just depends. My five year old is already out of a booster seat...she's 46" and the laws are different here in Texas.

Maybe if you show your parents the law http://depts.washington.edu/booster/anton_skeen_bill.html they will understand it. It's possible, too, that the doctor didn't fully understand the law, since it's so new. Another thing that might help would be to show your parents that your knees bend naturally at the edge of the seat, and that the shoulder belt hits you in the right place...if they do on my 5 year old, I'm sure they do on you too...and it would show your parents that you do fit safely in the seat.

You should still be riding in the back seat of the car whenever possible, though.

I've got to say is that I would be pretty embarrassed to sit in a booster seat at age 14. Maybe you should gain some weight or somthing. I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Uhm... hm.. Well.. 65 pounds is very thin and frail, not to mention you are very short. (Do you mean 53 inches, or 5 foot 3 inches?) So I really think booster seats are so airbags don't decapitate/kill you.
So try getting taller, of getting some other information on it. I'm not sure, sorry.

Here is the booster seat law for your state:

I think your doctor is mistaken. The best way to get it straight is to check with the MVA. Perhaps the doctor should stick to medicine and leave the seat belt laws to those who are elected to uphold them.

Wow, where do you live? I would sit in the back if I was you to avoid injury. But, I'm also short and I have a small frame and I drive. I wouldn't sit in a car seat though, just sit in the back or if the seat belt fits you improperly, sit on a pillow, or a cushion.

the law states that if you are either 4'8" tall, or older than 7 you can be out of a booster seat so i would throw the seat out. i can imagine that that is pretty embarassing

what does the law actually say? Your dr should be able to let your parents know that you no longer need a seat.

It has to do with the seat belt, it can literally kill you and has killed kids that are smaller/lighter in weight.

I think this is something you need to seriously discuss with your parents. Be reasonable and try to work this out.

If you need to be in one under the law, you need to be in one. If you weren't and something happened and you were hurt, your parents would get in big trouble for child endangerment. It may embarass you; but, it could save your life and the well being and happiness of your parents.
