I must admit that blacks are a minority in Wicca. Wicca seems to be one of those crazy white people things like bungee jumping, or line dancing.
That being said, I DO know more than a few Wiccans who are African American. I have NEVER EVER seen them ridiculed for ANY reason by WIccans.
I have never seen an all black coven. Would be interesting.
Additionally - your culture and herritage (African American, Irish American, what have you) is an important factor in shaping who you are, your experiences, and how you relate to the world around you. It should NEVER be ignored. One of the strengths of Wicca is that you are not only allowed, but ENCOURAGED to bring those experiences into your spirituality to help explore them, yourself, the Gods, and how you relate to the world around you.

If you look around, you'll find some sort of Wicca that has been adapted to appeal to just about any race and culture.
I'm not Wiccan, but I know several and have attended some Wiccan events. I have never known one to ridicule anyone for not fitting in unless they were a total wack-o.
I think you'll find that most of them would be happy to share their beliefs and practices with you, and help you feel more comfortable. The whole religion has a "make-it-up-as-you-go" way of looking at things when it comes to actually involving yourself in it, but the core beliefs are pretty much constant throughout the whole religion.
That sounded bad, but it really isn't. Let me try to re-phrase it...
In Wicca, there are certain core beliefs. As long as what an individual does stays within those core beliefs, there isn't a conflict. That allows people to be comfortable in the way they worship, and permits complete freedom the petty details like cultural interpretation.

You're black, so what, that doesnt mean you can't be a wiccan. I'm black and im wiccan. Wicca is all about loving yourself and those around you. Wiccans tend to be open minded, so you shouldnt have any worry about being teased. If you wanna be a wiccan, ask yourself WHY you choose this path and please be honest with yourself. If you can't then this religion is not for you. If you want to choose this path for power and magick. Go back to where you came from.
If you, do I say to you good luck on your spiritual journey my friend.

Neither I nor the other pagans I now would blink twice at a person of African descent being Wiccan. We tend to be an open-minded bunch and enjoy being around people of like minds.
You may find www.witchvox.com useful, perhaps you can find the sort of coven you're looking for, or talk with others in a similar situation.
Wishing you joy and peace in your spiritual journey.

If you have researched Wicca at all, you should have learned that it is one of the most accepting and tolerant religions in the world today. Why on earth would the color of your skin make any difference? Do you have a problem worshiping with people whose skin is a different color than yours? Are you actually asking if there is a "black Wiccan group". If you are, then Wicca is probably NOT the religion for you. Lots of people of African descent practice this religion without worrying about there being a "black covenant". Dear Lord and Lady, deliver us from this kind of ignorance!

Wicca is a path of true love and peace. Everyone is welcome to join, no matter your sex, color, nor ethnic background.
Look at the fantastic answers given to you by Lady Morgana, the High Priest, and other Pagans and Wiccans. You can feel their TRUE love in their answers.
I am Hispanic (sort of). I have participated at Wiccan gatherings in the US, UK, Australia, Africa, and all over the Caribbean, including the US Territories of Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. My next visit is to Wiccans and Pagans in Argentina and Chile, before going to meet with our fellow Pagans in Russia.
You can say that we are a big happy family, and we all belong to ONE unique race, called the HUMAN RACE.
Welcome Home.

as far as i know, Wiccans don't tend to discriminate based on race. i don't see why you think you would be ridiculed, except from those outside the religion.
and really, anyone who ridicules you because of your skin color, whatever the reason, isn't someone you want to spend time with anyway.
all i can say is follow the path that feels right to you.
oh, and i doubt there's a strictly black coven anywhere. to do so would denote some sort of separation, and wiccans aren't big on that.
you can practice solitarily, but if you prefer a coven, find one near you and check them out. i can pretty much guarantee they'll welcome you with open arms, no matter what your skin color is.

Most Wiccans (at least the ones I know personally) don't care what color your skin is -- it's what's in your heart and in your intent that matters.
On the other hand, if you're saying that you would only practice with or accept knowledge from other black people... isn't that, in its own way, similar to the racism you fear from us?
EDITED TO ADD: Here is the Witches of the World section over at Witchvox to help you find Wiccans and Pagans in your area:

Just use the pulldown menus on the left to search in your area of the world. Good luck, and blessed be.

Dear One, I am a Wiccan High Priest, and in the last 37 years I have met many *black fellas* who practice Wicca..
We do not prejudice against anyone, as a matter of a fact, the roots of our religion date back to the dawn of time itself..
I would say that your ancestors were probably more responsible for the way our Earth based religion is conducted than the *white fellas*....
And it harm none, do what you will...
Blessed Be... )O(

Never fear ridicule. Everyone will face it whether or not they want to. Join the religion that you feel right with. There's no use in sticking with a religion you don't feel comfortable with just to escape ridicule. I'm sure there are other black Wiccans just keep searching.
