when i was a child between the ages of like 5 and 10 I remember suddenly hearing the clock ticking and it was going like 3 times the speed it normally was. All the sounds that i was hearing seemed as if they were triple speed, everything i heard was sped up basically.
I remember going to my mother and telling her that "everything was going too fast" and I couldn't seem to talk quickly enough. She always told me to go to my room (she had 9 kids so we were all pretty much told to go away if it was a minor issue).
I remember feeling scared and the noises were loud even though they were normal noises. It wasn't constantly like that, just sometimes. movements too were really fast, like when my mom would answer me, it was like she was on fast forward when you are skimming through a video.
Has anyone ever heard of that or know what the heck I am talking about?
Thanks for your time!!

That is interesting but it never happened to me. I had a freaky moment as a child when I remember being inside a car when it was starting to become dark and I seen a really bright flash of light from the sky. I don't think I was dreaming. I guess we all have those freaky moments we don't like to tell people.

It sounds like you may be dealing with some form of anxiety... and perhaps some relay of a traumatic experience is in play here as well. Sometimes when we become anxious we become hyper-sensitive to things... and once our adrenaline pumps up time can either slow or speed up like a blur. I would be curious to know if you are or have been on any type of medications? This can be a factor as well.

I would say to set up a time to speak with someone about this (if you are in school there are resources for this with and if not you could take a trip to your local mental health clinic). Someone mentioned stress on here. That can be something that triggers the symptoms you spoke of here... but i would hesitate to say it is simply due to stress. It doesn't sound like there is anything you need to worry too much about here, though there may be some things a doc can do to help you work through it and make you feel a little more normal about it all through understanding.

i had some experiences like this as a kid.
i used to see things all the time and couldn't sleep. also the usual atmospheric noises would seem extra loud or extra fast. i didn't really talk fast, i had a speech impediment.

does this happen to you much now? i think our brains start to filter things for us.

i occasionally see things when i am stressed out, and i know that not everyone had the same childhood experiences i did. but i deal with it ok.

Considering your mom had nine children, she had to be short and sweet, sounding harsh. Maybe it seemed you couldn't get upstairs fast enough (the sound of the clock ticking faster, racing the clock), so she wouldn't get mad at you. I came from a somewhat similar background. I was oversensitive to noise, wondering if my dad was being sent upstairs to "sort us out," cause of some noise they heard they thought was because of us.

this may sound wierd but i know exactly what you're talking about, and you may have a minor (or major if you've had alot of experiences) of schizophrenia! its a disorder that makes you hear, see, and feel things that really arent there, i have a minor case of it where i see things that normal people dont see. if its really getting to you, you need medical attension.
