Harness Universal energy, generate it, and direct it for a purpose that harms none.

One must first learn to connect with Universal energy before one can do anything with it.

Magic, to paraphrase Aleister Crowley, is the act of causing change in the universe in accordance with one's will.

Witchcraft 101 would go something like this, at least as I was taught: All things in the universe are interconnected by energy, which some witches (including Wiccans) perceive as Divine in nature. This is how witchcraft works: by focussing my intent, and using sympathetic correspondances (certain herbs for courage, for example), I can create an amulet using those herbs which will stimulate courage in the person who wears it. Similarly, by using a lock of hair from a person who is ill, I can (with their permission) set energies in motion that will help them to heal.

In this sense, witchcraft is a very mechanistic worldview. The entire universe is seen as a giant interconnected machine, and by applying one's will to exert pressure one area, one creates a cascade effect that causes change in another area.

Witchcraft is only one branch of magic, but that's my area of expertise, so there's my answer.

i can tell you how i view magic. other people have different views than me.

personally, i view "magic" as a type of meditation. just meditation with tools. something to focus my mind and my energy on what it is that i want to achieve.

i don't believe in the supernatural. i don't believe we can affect or manipulate other people or nature with some herbs and candles and a chant (and to even try would be very wrong).

i think that we can, however, get in touch with ourselves, with the subconscious part of ourselves. i think meditation can lead to realizations that help us to better understand ourselves and the world around us.

and for me, "magic" or "spellwork" is merely a different type of meditation. it's helpful sometimes to have tangible objects in front of us to focus our thoughts.

magic does many different thing, depending on what the intent was.it has effects that i can see. i'm able to focus my mind better which puts me in the right mindset to do certain things. for example, i did a "spell" to help me stop smoking. i won't go into detail but it involved charging a stone. i wear it on my wrist. whenever i want a cigarette, i see the stone and stop an think twice about lighting up. i havent' had a cigarette in 4 days. did the spell itself stop me from smoking? no. but it did allow me to focus my energy and my thoughts and provided me with a reminder of my decision.

i'm a firm believer that any changes i want to make in myself must come from WITHIN myself. magic and meditation are just ways to aid me in making these changes.

in a sense, for me, it's mind over matter. certain herbs and stones mean certain things because i GIVE them that meaning.

i don't believe i can influence someone else without their consent. for example, if i think bob needs more courage, me doing a spell to give him more won't do a damn thing. but if bob ASKS me to help him, then it will work.

hope all that makes sense.

There is no difference between magic and sufficiently advanced technology.

Magic is just science that you don't understand. And by "you" -- I mean YOU.

Test yourself with OUIJA BOARD. You must experience it yourself. Then you will know if it's fake or not.

The information of some future events, thus taken, was used to make firm the belief of the Chief of idol worshipper and it was making their belief firm in the idols. In addition, any person who still believes, he is helped by Satan to keep his faith. Otherwise, human being was never so foolish to believe stone and wood idols made by their hands. The magic is really a type of help of Satan.

102) And accepted what the shaitans falsely attributed to the kingdom of Sulaiman; not that Sulaiman; was an unbeliever, it was the shaitans who were unbelievers; they taught witchcraft to the people and that which was revealed to the two angels, Harut and Marut in the city of Babylon. Yet these two angels never taught magic to anyone without saying: "We have been to tempt you; do not renounce your faith." In spite of this warning those people kept on learning, from the angels, the magic which could cause discord between husband and wife; although they could harm none with it except with Allah's permission. They learned, indeed, what harmed them and did not profit them; even though they knew fully well that the buyers of magic would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. Surely, they sold their souls for a bad price, if they could understand it! (Quran:S-2, V-102)

When a person subdue his soul to the wishes of that Arch rival, he run to get it, he always help that man by fair or foul means. However, he can never touch the people with true faith in the All-Knowing, All-Mighty.

A strange event, narrated by Omar (may God be pleased with him), a companion of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), is worthy of attention.

"Narrated Abdullah bin Umar, I never heard 'Umar saying about something that he thought it would be so-and-so, but he was quite right. Once, while 'Umar was sitting, a handsome man passed by him, 'Umar said, "If I am not wrong, this person is still on his religion of the pre-Islamic period of ignorance or he was their foreteller. Call the man to me." When the man was called to him, he told him of his thought. The man said, "I have never seen such a day on which a Muslim is faced with such an accusation." 'Umar said, "I am determined that you should tell me the truth." He said, "I was a foreteller in the pre-Islamic period of ignorance." Then 'Umar said, "Tell me the most astonishing thing your female Jinn told you of." He said, "One-day while I was in the market, she came to me scared and said, 'Haven't you seen the Jinns and their despair and they were overthrown after their defeat (and prevented from listening to the news of the heaven) so that they (stopped going to the sky and) kept following camel-riders (i.e. 'Arabs)?' " 'Umar said, "He is right," and added, "One day while I was near their idols, there came a man with a calf and slaughtered it as a sacrifice (for the idols). An (unseen) creature shouted at him, and I have never heard harsher than his voice. He was crying, 'O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except you (O Allah).' On that the people fled, but I said, 'I shall not go away till I know what is behind this.' Then the cry came again: 'O you bold evil-doer! A matter of success! An eloquent man is saying: None has the right to be worshipped except Allah.' I then went away and a few days later it was said, 'A prophet has appeared.' " (Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3653-5.206)

Similar events are reported, when Prophet of God conquered the surrounding tribes. He sent some groups to break their idols. When the friends of Prophet (peace be upon him) returned, he asked whether they saw some strange event. They reported in nil. Then He sent them again to break the real idols. This time they located the real idols and they saw an old lady, with dispersed hair going out and after some distance she vanished. On returning they reported the event to the Prophet. Then He said that this was real idol of the tribe. The group of Satan by craftiness or sometimes by force was teaching and compelling the people for his (idols) worship.

"O mankind! Certainly, the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not the life of this world deceive you nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah. Surely Shaitan(Satan) is your enemy; so take him as an enemy. He is inviting his adherents towards his way so that they may become companions of the blazing fire". (Quran: S-35 Fatir, V-5…6)
