I can't choose out of three cities that were the dirtiest. So here are my top three:
1. Amsterdam, Netherlands. Maybe because it was so brown and melancholy, or maybe because we wandered the streets before the trash cleaners came to pick the stuff off, I'm not sure.
2. Rome, Italy. It wasn't dirty with filth, but dirty with disrespect. I saw a lot of graffiti there, a lot on buildings. It was such a change to see the Colosseum and the touristy things, then ride through the outskirts of town and see all of that. Reminded a bit like Flint, which, surprisingly, did not make this list.
3. Venice, Italy. And only for one reason: Pigeons. There is a whole lot of them in the big square and they poop all over the place. And the canals looked pretty murky, and I blame that on the pigeons.
The cleanest? I went to Charlevoix, MI with my friend last summer and it's a small town, one of those where everyone basically knows about everyone else. Her grandfather held a high importance there and he even sent us to work pulling weeds to beautify the city more.
Where would I absolutely love to visit?
I want to go back to Florence, Italy.
I want to go to Jerusalem.
I want to go to Greece and see the pretty white and blue building by the sapphire Sea.
I want to go to see the Pyramids.
I want to go back to Lucerne, Swizterland and go back to Mt Pilatus. The view was absolutely stunning.
I don't think I would ever want to visit anyplace in Asia besides Russia. I just have no interest. And no other place in the Middle East but Israel. And no other country in Africa except for Egypt. And I don't want to go to South America, either. Or Australia. Just no interest...

The dirtiest would have to be Los Angeles. The smog is horrific. I couldn't even see the Rose Bowl from the highway, which is only a short distance away. My eyes were burning, I was actually choking from the lack of air quality. Also, Hollywood is a filthy, over-rated tourist trap. There is trash everywhere, and it literally smells.
The cleanest city I have visited is Austin, Texas. I visited the entire city, including the campus of the University of Texas. I saw very little littering at all in the streets. Lawns were well-kept and manicured. The riverwalks were stunningly clean and well-cared for, too. Downtown was shimmering and the air quality was outstanding.

The dirtiest city I have been to so far was Cairo, Egypt. The cleanest I would have to say was Priano Italy (very fresh).
I would love to visit Cape Town, South Africa. I have heard it's beautiful and I would love to go on safari.
I can't really say where I wouldn't want to visit because I love to travel, but I suppose Iraq and North Korea, for obvious reasons.

I don't know if I have a dirtiest, I live in SF and there are spots here that are suprisingly ugly...Rome was a little tough too. And Columbus has some nasty spots but so do most great lakes cities.
I do have to counter the person who mentioned Venice. I was there in july so it was hot, touristy, and potentially awful but I thought it was really great. It was my favorite Italian city. There are pigeons, yes, but I didnt notice a smell or that much doo doo. And the canals did not smell. Maybe they do at other times of the year but I really liked Venice.
Seattle is super clean. Ditto Portland. London and Toronto, for their size, look really nice too. More colorful than you'd expect.

okay dirtiest city would be nyc, it's a great city but it is really dirty, toronto is the cleanest city i have visited and it is a great city. I'd love to go to thailand and myanmar because of the architecture. I probably wouldn't want to go to Africa, because of the diseases, I know some areas are clean though.

Things and places change, that is the beauty of life. It always amazes me that when I return to a place I visited days , months or years ago, it has changed a lot.
The dirty cities in the past have all changed, changes due to the local politicians and the citizenry, so now I cannot name one anymore.
Cleanest? Vegas , actually. That city hires so many street cleaners.
Visit? when the wars are over, I would love to do a pilgrimage to the Middle East and its holy lands, Iraqs historical places, Iran, Jordan and Egypt.

Tijuana, Mexico, was by far the dirtiest place I've ever been.
Washington, DC is pretty clean, as is Reston, VA, and Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
I would not want to go to Russia, or Cairo, or Tokyo. I think Rio might be fun.
I would love to see Australia, and parts of Africa and Antarctica and Alaska. I would also like to visit Jamaica, and southern Florida, and Machu Picchu.
