Hi Justine, yes you can freeze veggies you get fresh at the store if you are not going to use them right away. Some do not freeze well while others do..
.DO NOT FREEZE:
whole tomatoes
radishes
green onions
regular cooking onions
potatoes
sweet potatoes or yams

YOU CAN FREEZE:
veggies if you blanch them first
this means plunging them for a couple minutes in boiling water then putting them in ice water to stop the cooking and chills them down...then dry off and place in freezer containers and place in freezer.
green beans
corn
peas
carrots
cauliflower
......................................................................................................
I chop up green peppers, onions and celery....and place in freezer containers..so when I want to make special dishes they are all ready to put in the cooking pot. These do not need blanching...they freeze just the way they are....since you are going to cook them and not eat raw...
........................................................................................................
I noticed if I put my veggies or fruit in the plastic square or round containers with lids that snap on they last longer than in a bag....

I check on the produce every other day and keep things rotated..so they get used up faster....

Also did you know you can slice some fruits and veggies thinly and place them on a wire rack...and dry them in a slow oven with a fan blowing on them if you have convection oven. Then they are like crisp and can be stored in glass canning jars..all you do then is add water to bring them back to life to use in soups...etc.

I don't wash my veggies or fruits until I'm ready to use them..washing them first when you bring them home seems to make them spoil much faster....

one last thing don't buy too much at one time..or you will waste the food...buy only what you actually need for a couple days...then go back for more if it's convenient.....then you won't be throwing your money away too...

It is a struggle to keep up with the food to cook when it's fresh but it's worth the time invested to feed yourself and family the best you can so you are in the best of health.

good luck,
