I have panic attacks, and I'm going to Warped Tour this year. I think that would be horrible to get an extreme episode there. Is there any way to stop it when you feel one coming on?

Attacks can be controlled by self-talk. You need to tell yourself that what you are feeling is irrational and remind yourself what is rational. That is a beginning. Next, I'd advise counseling to figure out when these started and why. When you find that out, you can move on.

I overcame my anxiety attacks and they were pretty bad too.

I just had one the other day and I have had them a lot since November. I usually just go to the ER cause I feel like I can't breath but they never did much...I never knew it was a panic attack or anxiety attack I thought it was something else. Well I finally found out the other day that that's what it was and it was a symptom of something else I have. Well they gave me some tips. First, put one finger on the side of your nose to stop the air from one side and just breath with the other side. It will cause you to concentrate and it will stop the panic attack. Another thing lol and this is what the nurse and doc were joking about is sexual relations of course you cant do that on the spot but when your at home and it hits. Besides pills like Zantax or Buspar there isn't much you can do but change your diet have a healthy lifestyle with as little stress and pressure as possible....and even doing that may not help lol. Believe me I try to practice that....sleeping through it helps.

Hi! Yes, the following steps will help. The first one will stop panic in its tracks, but the other two will help you attaining better mental health long term:

1. Breathe properly. If you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Try Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks and anxiety. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can take a course for free online at: www.livinglifetothefull.com It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough.

Have fun. Best of luck.

Some people find that deep breathing and positive self-talk help a lot. You might want to try whatever usually works for you sooner, practice what you're going to do if it happens and hopefully have someone with you who knows about your panic attacks who can help you if you need them to.

If you have moderate to severe panic attacks, there's no quick fix. Anyone who says there is doesn't know what they're talking about. The best thing to do is to know the early signs, so you can catch the panic attack early and head it off. Focus on your breathing: slow your breathing down. Focus on not holding your breath--many people tend to do that. By slowing your breathing down, you'll also slow your heart rate down, so you won't feel your heart pounding. Try to distract yourself from your anxiety by focusing outward: focus on specific objects and colors around you.

Fresh air circulating and some herbs to help your mind keep concentration and focus. Use St. John's Wort for anxiety, mild depression and focus too. It does cause sun sensitivity if taken for long periods of time.
Ginseng for concentration and focus, settles and strengthens the nervous system and stimulates positive thinking patterns.
Ginko Biola boost energy and give you system support if you want something extra.
If you have a Dollar General local, you can buy these in capsule form for $3 a piece and I use them without any problems. They work great!

not that I know of. there are prescription drugs, but always with some side effects. I take them and besides a little dopey feeling once in a while, I haven't had a panic attack in quite a while. Nothing else helped me much.

I get them, the best thing you can do is slow your breathing, this can be hard especially when you don't even realize you are doing it!! Focus totally on your breathing and hold your breaths in for a certain amount of time like the count to five or something. Also take a paper bag with you and go into the bathroom and breathe in it for a few breaths!! It really helps calm you down and get your body and senses stabilized!!
