i have a chihuahua and i want to get another dog not a small dog but a medium sized dog but i am afraid of the size difference what dog could live really well with a chihuahua???

size is not the issue. You can safely have a great dane with a chihuahua, it's the TEMPERMENT of the dog....not the sex, age, size or in many cases even the breed of dog. As ANY breed of dog has members who are at opposite ends of the scale....from very submissive to very dominant. My 100lb dog gets beat up by my neighbors chihuahua all the time....my other 80lb German Shepherd would happily have one for a snack lol. It just depends on the temperment, there is no one sure fire breed.
Beagles are usually a pretty safe bet, pugs are prettygood (they are still on the small side tho) A small size lab would be a good option. Chows, pits, terriers, & some herding breeds such as corgi's & certainly australian cattle dogs (not to be confused with australian shepherds) are probably NOT a good idea if your looking for a pretty easy transaction, as these dogs tend to need a little more experienced owners. Your best bet would be to check out a shelter and pick a dog with a laid back easy going temperment. Wish ya the best :)

Irish Wolfhound. lol, i'm just joking. Maybe a Pembroke Welsh Corgi? They are on the smaller side but not as small as your dog. Be careful because they sometimes chase cars if not leashed or fenced. They are really nice dogs though.

probably any of the larger toy breeds. maybe a terrier if you can get one a lil older so they are a lil more gentle with the smaller dog. try your pound too - bring your dog to see what med dogs they have and how well they get along.
there are plenty of mix and pure breeds in the pound that need a good home and that get along with other dogs.

Well...pugs are sort of small, but they're super friendly. Umm...maybe a Manchester Terrier, Golden Retriever, Chinese Crested, or an English Cocker Spaniel. =]
