My wife and I just got this great dog. He is three years old and his owner had to move and could not take where he was moving to. He is a cross between a yorky and a schnauzer. Seams to be very smart. Already house broken. But when I call for him, he just sits there. lol. So, how do you teach him to come to you when you call for him? Thanks.

find out what his favorite treats are - stand near the dog -very close -from a sitting position-use a signal that you and your wife agree on-have him stay -sitting -back up slowly -about 1 foot away give him a treat --then increase the space between you -when you release him from the sit/stay position-tell him come --- or the command --here, eventually he will be right by your side -always remember to say yes ,or good -in a happy voice -praise -him well

Give your new dog some time to adjust to his new owners and home.
Always have a treat for your dog. Show him the treat and say come. You will have to do this numerous times before he learns that come means he will get a treat. And don't forget to praise him every time. Say good boy or good girl and pet your dog. This is how I trained my five months old miniature poodle. When I call him now I don't give him a treat anymore I just say good boy and pet him. Good luck.

You need to pet him and take him for lots of walks. The more time you spend with this dog, the more he will adjust to you and learn to like you in return. With dogs love is always a two-way street.

The dog is confused and doesnt know any better. here is a good tip keep calling its name it wont recanizine it at the first time but it will learn it it takes pacients.

ooooo! new dog ok this is how u do it get a box of treats and call his name and give it to him when he comes give it to him do it about 15 times everyday and slowly stop giving it treats and give it praise!

spend more time with him and try calling him and walking away as you do so he will probably follow you sooner or later he will come when you call him
