People who chew tabacco are four times more likely to have oral cancer that those who smoke it. Oral cancers include cancer of the lips, mouth, gums, cheek, tongue and throat cancer.

Other conditions that may result from using smokeless tobacco include:

gum disease
cavities
bone loss around teeth
white sores in the mouth that can lead to cancer (leukoplakia)
increased heart rate and high blood pressure
heart disease
ulcers

The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels.

This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs
amputated.

Tar coats your lungs like soot in a chimney and causes cancer.
So pretty much...both are equally dangerous!

Being a former smoker, I feel fairly well qualified to pass on my experiences to you and anyone else that cares. I am currently blessed with C.O.P.D. (a respiratory disease) as a result of smoking and I am still young enough to live many more years, hopefully, but it will be with limited activity due to reduced lung capacity. I have had 4 vertebrae operated on and the doctor knew I was a smoker because my bones were softer than a non-smoker. Imagine that, no-one tells you about soft bones because of restricted blood vessels from smoking. I was hospitalized at one point for atrial fibrillation (extremely high heart rate) due to smoking. They had to stop and restart my heart to restore normal heart rythym, which is an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone. This is the one that got my attention and I quit that stupid habit. I could go on and on, but trust me there are far more things to worry about by indulging in tobacco than just cancer as I've found out and am still finding out as I get older. My answer is simple, just don't get started on any bad habits, whether smoke, chew, drugs or alcohol. Bad choices are easier to deal with if you never get started.

technically, smoking is worse, because smokers usually develope a cough after doin it for a while, and there is a higher death rate for smokers...
however, chewing, dippin, redippin, or pouchin (all the same) really screw up yor mouth.
One of my friends developed a horrible cough from smoking, so he began dipping, and then he lost 3 of his teeth from rotting gums, and got a wierd white spot on his tongue...
if u must choose one over the other, i guess u should dip, although it is a hassle to always have to spit, you can dip in more places than you can smoke...
please try not to do either though
hope that long shpeel helped....

They both have equal horrible affects;

Chewing=tongue, mouth and throat cancer
Smoking=lung, mouth, throat cancer and other cancers that affect other major organs.

My grandfather died from lung cancer, smoked cigars and cigarettes most of his life. I will never forget the huge train-track like stitches that went across his whole back after he had a lung removed. He died because the other lung also had cancer from smoking. He was too young to die and I miss him very much.

I would have to say smoking, although both are dangerous habits for your health.
