A veteran is a person that has served in the military, you
do not have to have been in a war. As an example anyone
that is in the service but has not been to Iraq is still a
veteran but normally would be an Iraq era veteran, those
that served in Iraq are Iraq War veteran.

A veteran means you were in the military and you served your term then you are "legaly" a veteran or if you were KIA you were a veteran...you cant (offisually) be one while in the military... but if you did something to get kicked out of the military "a dishonorable discharge" then you wouldint be a veteran atleast an honored veteran
