Have you ever wondered why schizophrenic people yell and scream at the air? Ever wonder why they are able to see things that we claim are not there? Ever wonder why they do things that the "Voices" tell them to do?
Are they really crazy or are their senses keenly sensitive to the unknown forces of the evil spirit world?

I am a paranoid schizophrenic diagnosed as such over 40 years ago. I have lived a pretty normal life due to TLC and medications. I do not consider myself "crazy" nor do I consider those others whom I have known with the disease as "crazy". I have had "visions" and heard "voices". They were very real to me and definitely not of my own volition. I do not rule out a supernatural as that is the only way I can explain what happened to me (suddenly and violently). I do not consider them evil experiences although at one point, in response to a desperate prayer to God I got an answer in the form of a chorus of male voices saying loudly, "Kill yourself". I merely shouted back mentally (because the voices were in my head, mental), NO!

I could have yelled and screamed out loud but I didn't. The delusions one has, in response to the unwelcome voices and apparitions, is a desperate attempt to try to explain them to one self and others. They may be untrue or weird but they are what seems real at the time. Remember schizophrenia is a disease that strikes predominatly young people they usually don't have a whole lot of experience at life.

I don't think you have really investigated the disorder; you seen to be expressing the common stereotypes of some of the disorders. Schizophrenia is not a single disease but a whole spectrum of disorders. Type "schizophrenia" into Yahoo! web search and a whole lot of links comes up. Wikipedia has a good short summary.

One particullarly bad sterotype is that the disorder leads to violence which is not true. Schizophrenics I think you will find are no more violent than the so called "normal" people. Whether those that hallucinate are "keenly sensitive" to the "unknown forces of the evil spirit world" I can not say. I really don't believe there is an evil spirit world. They are subject to "Unknown Forces" as no one knows what causes the disorder.

Good luck in your understanding, good health, peace and Love!

We are FAR from understanding all there is to know about the Brain and our senses, so I believe we are far from any type of explanation for things like this. Physics talks about "non-locality", perhaps this comes into play. There is also the possibility that it is all in the perception, meaning that you may think of a particular friend a lot but only notice the times you are thinking of that person AND they show up. Plus, our minds seem to have a real talent for re-ordering our perceptions to make the most sense. I simply don't think we are at a point where we can discuss this type of thing with any true scientific surety. I think it is like trying to explain the different colors in light to people who have never seen light refracted through a prism...our eyes see only the light, not the whole color spectrum. Until someone actually sees the prism effect there is no way for them to realize the colors even exist.

Though there is no definative explanation for what causes the disorder known as Schizophrenia. It is a combination of multiple factors, but it is mostly thought to be caused by an imbalance of the brain chemical called Dopamine.

Without getting too deep into a discussion about the disorder, the "crazy" behaviors you are referring to manifest due to a disorganized thought process and an altered perception of reality.

To understand these people, you have to understand their reality is much different than ours. All day, everyday, their brains are processing information in an abnormal way.

If you would like more information, please contact me. I would love to have an indept discussion with you on the disease and it's effects.

Good Luck,
Angie R.N.

I used to have minor skizophrenia and its nothin that anyone should have to go through it is a living hell. I got mine after watching the first Exorcist, you knwo the one made in the 1970's. After that day I started hearing things and seeing things move and **** its not fun trust me. But I had it since I was like a little girl I was always alone in my room in my own world and that also might have been soemthing that triggered it. I dont know if it just comes and goes like how it did with me or who knows it might not have been that but I wasted most of my childhood and teenage years being skizophrenic and it really sucks.

when i was in a psyciatric hospital there were a lot of people with schizo affective disorder which was because of heavy drug use. i beleive coz of what ive seen there, is that these people do acually have gifts of some degree whether it is being psycik or a messanger of god and so forth.
many doctors and psyciatrists are aithests and choose not to believe, and therefore putting them on heavy doses of anti-psycotic meds. i believe you hear voices for a reason but the most important thing is, how to recognize whats a paranoid thought (thinking you are jesus) and what is a sixth sense

I have found in my experience working with schizophrenia that most people are extremely intelligent and tend to be more sensitive to things. Yes, it is a good question about what the actual abilities are of people that have schizophrenia, as they obviously see and hear things that others do not appear to see or hear.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

They may hear voices or see things, they are seriously mentally ill but that doesn't mean they are not smart, they may also be hyper vigilant or paranoid and that can be dangerous because they have to protect themselves from those people.

Don't be ignorant, please. Schizophrenia with hallucinations is a living hell, not a performance for you to enjoy.
