Yes he will. All puppies go through that stage. Some stay in it longer than others. Make sure to not let him do it because there's nothing worse than an overgrown puppy at age one, as big as a Rot doing it at your head. My friends Rot did that innocently to me once. Wow they have big mouths, Best thing to do is always hand him a toy, never let him bite or chew on you. Be patient, enjoy your puppy and good luck!

First of all you have a 9 week old puppy, and hoepfully you got him at the right age which is between 6-8weeks, preferably 8 weeks. IF so, this will be very easy. Puppies bite and mouth, this is how they play. If one puppy is playing with another in the litter and the first puppy bites the second one too hard, he will yelp and run away. The puppy soon learns that he has bitten too hard and if he wants to continue the game, he must not bite so hard. Do not smack the puppy on the nose, they think the game is still going on when you do this. When he bites you, simply yell really loud, "OUCH!!!!" Put the Puppy down, and walk away. Do not pay any attention to the puppy for abour 5 minutes. Return and start a new game. When he bites again, repeat the excerise. Its a Rottie, so he will pick up on this pretty quickly. Good luck.

well, he will just grow out of it. i suggest a trainer of some sort. it is best to solve these types of problems before he grows older and his bites become harder, and much more dangerous. to find a trainer, you could ask a vet, look through the phone book, or on the internet. you can always self train him to, like when he bites, tell him "no" or "bad" and just seem dissapointed towards him. if you yell or strike him, he will only be scared of you, so just a simple look of dissapointment will let him know he did something wrong. there is always a way to get him to stop, so don't worry!!! and best of luck! you can look on google for tips to train your dog. all methods are about the same. it is good to train them in other ways to, this way they will always be obedient, so i would teach your new puppy to sit, and speak. it would turn it into a game where he learns to listen to you so getting him to stop biting everything will just be another trick. good luck!!!

He won't stop this without proper training, and if he doesn't learn correctly, he could become a biter. Please, buy a copy of Dr. Ian Dunbars book "AFTER YOU GET YOUR PUPPY". You can get it as www.siriuspup.com or Amazon.com. It deals extensively with this subject. It is an amazing, easy to read paperback, written by the man who invented puppy kindergarten training over 25 years ago! It's the only book we sell and recommend at our hospital. EVERY NEW PUPPY OWNER SHOULD HAVE A COPY! :)

This is very typical at his age. Here is how to begin dealing with it.

Look NOW for training class, you should begin training class no later than 16 weeks. Earlier is better.

A dogs mouth is like its hands, that's how they play. However when he gets too rough you can say "ouch", whimpering actually worked for our smaller dogs. Now they all just barley put their mouths on us, if ever, when we play with them.
